When I worked retail we had a shrink wrap set up we used to re wrap items in plastic that was sealed and shrunk to the item. The part that "cut" the plastic to the right size was basically a long wire that was heated. You pressed it down on the plastic and pulled the pieces apart. You end up with a perfect seal on that edge. It was a lot of fun to use and see what kind of items we could shrink wrap.

For the plastic bag one, the lab I used to work in had a special device for sealing things in plastic that worked (and looked) kind of like an old school paper cutter. You'd align the plastic with the arm thing where you wanted it to seal and pressed the arm down for a couple of seconds. Not sure what the heated element was made of though.

The bag hack does work if you add an extra step! Sandwich the cut bag between 2 pieces of fairly rigid plastic (I used old store loyalty cards) with just a little bit of the bag sticking out. This will prevent the bag from meeting unevenly and getting all puckered. I used it for some bags over a year ago and they are still going strong!

Real solutions from my experience: - Cutting screws: just buy a decent fresh hacksaw blade (like Stanley, not the cheapest noname one with overheated brittle teeth), normal size hacksaw frame with blade tensioning + use cutting oil. - Drilling vertically: put a small try square or a machinist square vertically along the drill bit and keep it parallel to the square's edge without touching (just eyeball it). If you need square through hole, mark and drill half the way from both sides. This will prevent tearout and compensate for each drilling angle mistake. - To reduce tear-out: mark cut lines with a sharp knife (see 'marking knife'), not a pencil. Do it on both sides and cut on the waste side. With a deep knife cut, you will get a very clean edge. + use sharp saw blade of course. - The trick with the iron is actually the best way to fix dents in the wood. Works perfectly if the wood grain is not broken. Soldering iron also works for small dents.

I cut ziplock bags into smaller ones, I cut them with a heated boxcutter so it seals both edges as I cut.

The general guideline for owning cats is one cat per 500 square feet or ~152 meters of house you have.

You can use the iron and some parchment paper to seal ziplocks or also to do cheap lamination. The only life hack I use is using zip ties to hold things together straight when screwing them together because I don’t have a lot of tools. Of course that only works if it’s a shape that works with zip ties but I’ve also done it to hold things drying with glue since rubber bands stretch out and putting weights on only really helps if you’re working on a flat surface. It’s very satisfying when your popsicle stick cylinder is still properly circular in the morning

This is really random😂 and idk if you use viewers ideas and stuff like that but what if you made a fidget cube I would totally buy that idk but I just thought that would be really cool and fun to watch😅

I am Evan when I try and take a good photo. Except I never get a good photo in the end. Our videos are visually a joke compared to E&K

Watching your videos inspired me to finally make the computer desk I've been putting off for years, but in doing so I accidentally cut my headphone cord... In better news the model I was making when I cut my headphone cord turned out pretty much perfectly and I'm confident in the integrity of the full scale design, I just need a new headset now. And for anyone who might be thinking, yes I did try reattaching the wires, heat shrink and all, it didn't work ;-;

Use a hot wire on the full bag and it makes 2.love the enthusiastic approach. Toothpaste fills holes and sands smooth.

Evan was on the right track! I recommend using the un-sharpened side of a large knife you don't mind ruining. Heat it up significantly and place the knife on the bag. No need to cut the bag first. Gently pull the bag after a couple of seconds while the knife is still pressed to tear at your new seal. also dont do this on something that would burn.

For the flame and the plastic bag if you put a ruler where you want to seal it, it will be a clean edge.

The zip lock bag trick does work. I use it to reseal bags. I use a crème brûlée lighter (its gives off more heat) to heat up an knife and press it againt the back.

Thanks for the blue tape tear out hack. I have a small garden project to deal with and am hoping for smooth instead of jagged edges. Thx for the hack.
