Great tutorial and a very nice pattern. I went to your site and purchased the pattern. Thank you.

I do a little carving from time to time. This isn’t bad way to get a start on a carving peace. After doing the rough work on a scroll or band saw you can then shape it the rest of the way with traditional carving tools and sanding bits for a rotary tool.

Thanks, for almost everything I use a #5 blade. However for the smaller version seen in the video I used a #2 blade on the lens part.

I did think about making it in separate parts. Than cutting out the part that is supposed to look like a Fresnel lens form Plexiglas and putting a LED inside or under it.

Hello, May you answer my question please? What brand of scroll saw are you using?
Is there a program you use to create the 3D scroll designs?

I start with some hand sketches. The finial version of course I use a desktop publishing app, but it is not used to create the design.

gotcha. does your app have an easy way to print it out on the paper at the correct dimensions? I was thinking of using Photoshop but was hoping there was an easier way. Thank you for your reply.

I use CorelDRAW to create the final plans. Yes they print out to the correct dimensions. It is vector graphics application. When I publish plans as PDFs I set the page size smaller then 8.5x11 that way you just have to pint them at 100% and it fits fine on 8.5x11 or A4.
