I see you haven't uploaded in 2 years. This is a video that took me a week of daily searches to find anything like it. I know that modeling action figures from scratch is not a popular hobby but it would be nice to have this video series revisited, maybe with some naration or subtitles. I'm curious about how you work with the polymer clay, like do you bake in between processes? If so, how do you get soft clay to blend so well with hard? I've experimented with freezing the clay in the past but it produces inconsistent results as far as blending goes. Love the joint design. Simple and effective. I'mma go binge the rest now.

THIS Is the video I've been looking for! I've wanted to make jointed dolls FOREVER. I have been just doing a wire armature and leaving the joints wire so it can bend there. But that looks awful when they wear short sleeves or shorts. The joints just look horrendous. But I couldn't think of any way to change it. THIS IS PERFECT!!!!

The measurements come from the drawing i made in the background. 22 grams. ca 4". Size is not a restriction, made 6", 4" and 2" so far (the 2" was made with a slightly different technique though...).

If this is oven hardening clay, how did you bake it, and then add additional sculpt? Wouldn't double baking it make it brittle?
@letsmakeactionfigures2871
6 жыл бұрын
I don't bake it fully if additional sculpting is needed. Just enough to make it harden enough to be handled without deforming. Fully bake when piece is done. Baking at a slightly lower temp but longer helps.

It looks as though you are baking each piece multiple times as you build them up. How many times can it stand to be baked?
@letsmakeactionfigures2871
5 жыл бұрын
I do bake them multiple times during the process. But at a lower temperature and shorter time, just to firm up the clay to make it easier to handle when sculpting. Once satisfied, I bake according to instructions. As I understand it, You can bake the clay any number of times as long as You don´t burn it.

Guys i want to start making this kind of stuff and i have a question, to whom has some experience eith PC. When he drills the holes into the legs, did pre bake the PC because it seems more stiff, than the clay he adds a bit later and the droppings from drilling seem to cause some resistance as he works through the piece. I would be scared by doing all that molding, that i ruin the symmetry and proportions i so carefully established beforehand.... He definetly baked the knee parts though right, asuming since he sanded it....

Let's Make Action Figures Thank you for the answer! 10 to 15 min?
@Ms.MaxwellScience
3 жыл бұрын
@@MrDebanane Depends. If you bake each piece separately and then assemble, that's about the right amount of time. But 15 minutes per 1/4 inch is the normal baking time for the clay I use; after baking and drilling and assembling, more clay is added to the legs, so it has to be baked a second time. You don't want it to burn when you bake it again, so the first baking has to be shorter.
