I love this video! We have been shopping at military surplus stores for years and years..and its funny how the crowd there is changing. I think mainstream America is finally waking up to the reality that things aren't getting better and that if you are in a metro area ...a highly dense populated area..you may have to leave on a dime..pick up and go! I Also...that bug out bag..don't keep it tucked away in the car..take it out and use it for a weekend camping trip..go for a long long hike in the mountains and see if you have the right STUFF that's usable and practical in it. You may discover you have things in it that aren't suited for your own situation. and carrying extra weight when you are on your feet for hours adds up!! One last thing to think about.... we advocate learning SKILLS and living NOW as self reliant and self sustainable as possible. Being able to produce and harvest and preserve our own food to is just as i important as the items in your bug out bag..and when you talk about saving money! Food is the number one cost in most peoples lives! I tell people if they dont have any tillable land even a small patio garden..or pots on their deck works well!! I really like your channel for it has some practical items for people ....and some good reviews that are honest. We are all in this together...and time is getting near! Things arent getting better...having the right gear is good...BUT having the right mind set and skills also are imperative. love it that we can all share here on you tube for free!!

I started with my old Army ALICE pack on an aluminum frame for my 3-day bug out pack, then went to Walmart for some basics then an Army-Navy surplus store for most of the rest, then to a hunting-camping store for my knife. I had not heard of the 5 "C"s, but they make perfect sense. Good video!Yes, you can make a fine setup for $100 or less.

Pretty good ideas! I would say, however, that Dave Canterbury also added 5 additional items to the Cs of survivability, and you showed them. Cotton (bandana), Compass, Candling device (flashlight), Cargo tape (duct tape)... the only one you didn't show was Canvas needle. Anyway, great video! Glad I subscribed! :)

Great video. Covers the basics. And you can always upgrade if your budget allows. Or even if you wanted to make a kit for a family member that has to travel(always check local laws but most cops wont mess with you if this kit was in your trunk). I personally would have gone with a better bag but thats my preference.

There are some holes in this bag conceptually. The 5 C’s were created with the idea of filling in the gaps with bushcraft. Bushcraft and survival overlap but they are not the same. To go the bushcraft route a layman is going to need a saw or axe at minimum. The biggest thing this is lacking is shelter. Then first aid. A way to get off the ground. More water storage (you could just ad and empty water bottle to fix that. Finally, a way to stay warm (fire alone isn’t going to cut it). For $100 one could easily put together a comprehensive package. It would look a lot like a cheap backpacking set up.

Survival is about adaptability and being able to utilize any resource available to you in a given situation to best maximize your your chances. Now I have no problems with people wanting to be prepared, But unless you are an avid survivalist and put yourself in simulated situations where the contents of your B.O.B is readily available, you are not being realistic. In a real life SHTF scenario most people wont have access to their B.O.B. and will need the ability to improvise on the move. These are the skills people need to learn and practice. A "prepared" B.O.B is great, but what if you don't have access to it? Just a thought from your friendly neighborhood Survival girl.. :-)

Most people carry their bug out bags with them at all times on their person. Better to have one and be able to get it and use it than just not make one, have the skills to "survive" and just barely make it because you had no tools. I disagree with you but it is good to have skills.
@KLEEVAGE
8 жыл бұрын
+Timm Lombardo I doubt that! They may carry them in their vehicle, but not on their person!
@jennifereastep8017
8 жыл бұрын
+Timm Lombardo I know a lot of people who have BOB's and all of them, without exception, keep their BOB's in their vehicles.. Hypothetically speaking. Lets say you are at work and your "bag" is in your car or truck and something happens that cause your vehicle to be unreachable for what ever reason. What do you do at that point? Lay down and die because your "tools" as you call them have been compromised? A tool is only as good as the person wielding it, therefore having skills to supplement the lack of tools is key to survival. Adaptability and the ability to improvise in any given situation is the trademark of a true survivalist.
@timmlombardo9267
8 жыл бұрын
+Jennifer Eastep That I can agree with, but I carry my BOB with my work case, and so do most people I know, maybe not your friends. But remember, I said I do agree with you in that you should have the skills and knowledge to survive, but unless you are as trained and skilled as a native, you most likely will need help eventually.
