I needed to do some buffing and all my new buffing disks are 6 inches, while my bench grinders are 4" and 8". So I decided to make a buffing mandrel for my lathe. It runs between centers and is driven by the drive plate. Turned some mild steel rod down to the right size, threaded it, and turned down 4 aluminum flanges to hold the buffing wheels. It's got a little wobble in the middle; used to much tool pressure when turning it down, but it works.
