I just came across your channel. I am a 73 year old newbie. I have a Labond lathe 19 inch swing, 54 inch center. Can you do a video on single point threading on your Labond lathe

Yes, I can absolutely do that! There is a video coming up very soon where I will do a bit of single point threading. And I have been kicking around the idea of starting a series of videos on "fundamental" skills where we'll go over core operations like single point threading, using the most basic and common tools that everyone will have in the shop. Keep an eye out. And thank you very much for watching!

@@santopezzotti730 well, I wish I didn't get rid of it, so we're even on that one... 😢 But what year leblond do you have? I might have a surprise on that front coming sometime in the future. Either way, it's pretty much the same regardless of the machine. 🙂

Nice Lathe! I figure most lathes of that size have been used pretty hard and have serious wear. It's good that you're ready to rebuild it. What do the control rods do on this lathe? Stops for power feed, or lead screw reverse?

Thanks very much! Yeah, it's been quite a lot of work. Unfortunately, there was a lot that I didn't get on camera. In retrospect there are a few things that needed fixing that I'd wished I'd recorded, but was just so "knee deep" in it at the time that it didn't happen. This is a pretty basic version of this particular lathe so the control rod only controls the spindle. Forward, reverse, and brake. No auto stops, or anything. The only feed reverse is located on the headstock, but there is very similar version of this machine with more features that has feed reverse gearing in the apron. Thanks so much for watching! I do have a couple videos coming up making some accessories for this machine as well. Hope to see you around!
