I know it's been a while since I last posted. Unfortunately, life and school get in the way sometimes, but I saved up some footage for a few more videos from winter break that I should be able to get out over the next few weeks.

This is going to be AMAZING once you finish it. Life is too short not to pursue those things which make you smile! You've done so well to be capable of building this at such a young age. I'm going to be fifty this year, and I am looking to make a life change to allow me to go and do my first build - a far more tame effort than yours, just a body swap (1957 GMC 100 panel truck onto a modern Yukon chassis). Really hope the speedster turns out to your satisfaction. I'm excited to see the finished vehicle!

Once you graduate you'll have the easiest resume ever. Just an e-mail address and a URL to point to this build series. That is, if you don't already have about 20 offers to choose from already. Also, maybe some fire hose material to form the seal between the firewall and the transmission? That would look contemporary with the style of the car.

Another way to anneal aluminium is to use a bar of Ivory hand soap. Simply rub the soap on one side and heat from the opposite side. When the soap liquifies your panel is annealed. This works very well for aluminium body work when you don't want a lot of soot in the area and the soap residue removes easily with water.
@Vikingwerk

And yet another way is to draw on the Aluminum with a a sharpie, and heat it, when the sharpie burns off, the aluminum is annealed.

if i can give a tip, for sawing the aluminium, just use a woodblade, and join the alu with a wooden board, so saw them together, its wayy easier, and the cuts are more straight, try it...love the work!! and for tapping with a coardless, buy some stainless steel taps, they r much more suitable for that...

I first started working aluminum back in the late '70's on USAC sprint cars. This was I learned the carbon black trick for annealing aluminum. Plus I used quite a bit of driven rivits, they were easier in some places instead of TIG welding, which I learned to use. Fun days

I ran a clubman racing car years ago, and it had rubber seal (window seal) around the bell housing. It was absolutely tight. You'd be amazed how much hot air will come through without it, also the gear box can get so hot it can actually burn your feet, ask a pre-war MG driver.
