Spoken as a true Yorkshire man. "WD40 for thread cutting". I like it. I think it falls under the expression "Tha's not gonna be makin' any money outta thee" which seems to be a favourite from family of old, no longer with us, just good memories, now just mum and I. Lottery win, we're coming home. until then, Yorkshire shall forever be in my blood and in my heart. I'm surprised WD40 is good as a coolant. tried it myself on a few jobs, does a good job. I'm beginning to wonder if you're sponsored by them lol.

I'm certainly glad this fellow is sharing this his knowledge this could get completely lost to time if not. Do non machinists watch this too? I honestly don't think that The Machinist I work with even watch this. But one of them just got his first cell/ _mobile a month ago. I'm not saying the content is bad in any way I love it.

Glad to see someone else that uses WD-40. I’ve used it for years as a cutting oil. People think I’m crazy for it, but the stuff works. That’s the biggest reason I don’t buy any other kind of penetrating oil.

Intresting your use of WD 40 for cutting threads, I have broken more hand taps in aluminum with that stuff....but it sure is great for milling and turning. I think it is white spirits [Mineral spirits/paint thinner] and mineral oil. at least that is what I have read. best wishes from USA, Paul

NEVER too old mate!! Thing is though, this tool would take far longer to make on a CNC machine. One-offs or short runs, can't beat manual machining. Not even CNC guys would argue that.

Hmshop Fix hi Eric. WD40 is like magic oil... it keeps the cutter "wet" oil and grease don't so it's like dry cutting. I use it for many jobs.
