In this video I make a wooden farmhouse table and two benches. The design is a classic cross legged table and benches with angeled legs.
Everything is joined togheter with wedged mortise and tenons joints, half lap joints and handmade wooden dowels. I also used a couple of french screws to attach the table top and the support beam under the table.
I did not use any bread boards because I'm not too concerned about warping and twisting, it just adds a bit character to the rustic look as long as it's not too bad.
The farmhouse table and the benches are made of construction grade lumber and the total material cost was under $ 200.
Safety concerns:
I know the "safety police" will point out some things in this video so keep in mind that some of the techniques I use on the table saw can be somewhat dangerous (like cutting angles and wedges the way I do in the video). If you don't feel safe about doing a cut, don't do it. I also use gloves in some parts of the video. Gloves are not recommended to use with power tools. I usually don't use gloves but I get these crazy skin reactions from spruce.
I hope you like this video and subscribe to my channel. If you have any questions please leave a comment below. I try to answer all comments.
Let me know if you build a similar farmhouse table with benches as well, would love to see it.
