The sunflowers are waking up and so are the bees my friend. You keep tinkering in your shed coming up with great ideas. I am saving them all in my noggin for later! I like the stretcher! Hardware cloth is a bit of a pain as it is both strong and brittle, cant put too much force on one point or it rips. That will do the trick. Bless you and your family Dave.

Need to get the chickens installed ;-) The sunflowers are bio mass mulch or chicken bedding then mulch the circle of life. Yeah the cloth was a pain but got her done and only lost a pint of blood lol All the best sir. Dave

Dandy little contraption there. I tried doing something similar with hardware cloth and I ended up breaking the wire where tension was applied. I folded the wire over on itself a few times to get more resistance / strength to pull against - that worked a lot better for me. Looks nice!

Thanks for the tip. The first one I had cut so it was what it was only broke one wire but I didnt pull that hard with the ratchet strap as that was all i had. I could have put two on. The second and third pull I did I left the roll on and pulled behind the post. The breaking wire was behind the post. But I wish I had done what you said I could have got more pressure on it. I will do that with the chicken wire on the top for sure and you will get a mention for your help. Thanks again and all the best Dave

Neat job that Dave, should work well. I like the idea of having two compartments so you can rotate the chickens from one side to t'other. cheers Woody

Cheers mate. I hope to free range them a bit at least let them at the beds in autumn and early spring. But the split run should allow a bit of green to come back for them to eat. Maybe. Cheers.

Nice one Dave. Might pinch that stretcher jobbie when I build our new chook run. Still find it weird you can folks & the yanks call it hardware cloth. I know it as snake mesh. Cheers mate and have a top one. 🍻👍😁
@SouthpawDavey

Cheers mate yeah I would call it square mesh but I heard it call hardware cloth. Snake mesh is only needed in OZ lol not forgetting crock and spited mesh lol. It worked really well mate I could not have done it without it. What I will say if you do cut your wire long enough so you can fold it so you have the hooks through 2 layers you can pull harder and its less chance of the wire tearing. All the best

@SouthpawDavey

Yeah we dont have raccoons I dont think the buzzards we have will take them. But I think I will still put something over the top. Mm roosters we will see lol I want ten as that horrid block stole my light for my garden.. So we will see how that pans out. Not to mention the cats that crap in my veg that live in it. Every flock needs a cock as the saying goes ;-)

@@SouthpawDavey did I ever tell you about my cat and how it got the name of Skywalker? I had a white shed that I kept my male Saanan goat in along with my old English game hens. Came up one morning and it was so foggy that I couldn't see the white shed from 30 feet away nor could I see the four foot high pallet fence Northern four foot high chicken wire fence on top of the pallet fence just this 1 Darn Cat walking back and forth on nothing 8 feet in the air... ;)
