I really enjoyed your video. I love the finished product. I'm a fan of the way you did the strap and the scalloped look down the spine. Great work. I do have one pointer that I have learned through my own leather work, that I couldn't tell if you had done.When gluing prefinished materials I always make it a habit to rough up the surface, either with a knife or a bit of sandpaper. It gives the glue a better surface to grab onto. Again, great work, and I hope this comment helps. Have a great day!

ThirdDegreeTactical, Thanks for watching and for the compliments. I do typically rough up the leather before I glue it, but maybe I skipped that step on this one. I always appreciate good advice and tips. Thank you

Very nice way to put on a binder covering. I have tried to add them on a couple of smaller projects, but the double thickness of leather makes a difficult fold. A great way to leave a natural space between the covers and the spine covering. Well done video.

Awesome job. I got a bible cover kit from Tandy and after finishing the product I realized that it was 1/2" too short. AAARRRGGGHH. My own fault, I should have tested it first. I am going to cut my own this time. Thank you for showing this.

Thanks for the video. I used your idea of a three piece cover for a new Bible cover for my wife's new large print study Bible. It is large and heavy, It didn't come out as nice as your did in some ways, but I was happy for my first attempt. I used 4-5 oz. on all and backed up the splice, where the handle was, with a piece of 8 oz. Thank you again.

I'm curious about how you did the spine. it looks like you glued another piece in the middle? Did you v-groove the folds as well?
@ddd443
7 жыл бұрын
Juli OrtizShockley, I did glue a spine in so it would be level with the sides. I used an Osborne groover to make the grooves so it would close easier.

wilton wager, This particular leather was Wicket and Craig English bridle. It doesn't carve well in my opinion but if you case it a little longer than you would unfinished vegetable tanned leather it stamps really nice and holds a deep impression. Thanks for watching.
