Did you ever investigate hot wax dip for your hives or do you like paint?
@HiddenSpringApiaries
4 жыл бұрын
We would absolutely hot wax dip if we could. Paint is just cheaper up front and does a decent job, so that's what we use.

Hey thanks for this very interesting video I’ve got a question : do you use a jointer and a planer for your rough cut boards ? If yes, do you accomplish that step before cutting the pieces to length ? Thanks !
@HiddenSpringApiaries

No, we want the rough side. It goes on the inside of the hive and encourages propolis build up

Any possibility that you guys make and sell these nuc boxes? I would be interested in buying a couple
@HiddenSpringApiaries

We don't, unfortunately. Other supply stores sell 4 frame nuc boxes though

Could I ask what the table saw with the dato blade is. It looks like a Dewalt Site Saw.. If it was, I did not think it could take the dato blade.

It's a very old Dewalt saw, not sure what brand

Please explain why all the time doing dove tails? I've used butt joints and dovetails in the past and the dovetails always rot out eventually, the butt joints never did and are 10 times faster to build
@HiddenSpringApiaries

Technically these are box joints not dovetails but I know what you mean. It's to provide the box with more strength, a box joint can support more than a butt joint. We haven't had any rot issues yet
@Lord_Volkner

@@HiddenSpringApiaries True, much stronger. Also box joints help keep the box square. Butt joints tend to parallelogram over time (appologize for using 'parallelogram' as a verb, but I suspect you all get my meaning.)

Great Video! How wide do you make your 4 frame Nucs?
@HiddenSpringApiaries

The outside measurement is 8 inches. Half of a regular deep so 2 fit side by side on a base nicely.
