After an unsuccessful 2 years long, teen-aged attempt to become proficient at pool, I've managed to live happily for 53 years without attempting to play at billiards even once. On an impulse I watched this video. I totally enjoyed watching the painstaking process you do in order to create your product! If all craftsmen struggled to build such care and quality into the things they produce I'm convinced we would all be living in a better world.

Opposite here. I got really good at pool at a young age and was beating all the local pro's by my mid teens. I got married at 19 and kept my hand in for a few years then decided a good father wouldn't be hanging out in pool rooms and bars till the wee hours so I put my stick down. I've never regretted that decision. I'm also 53👍. Watching this guy make these cues has lit the fire back up in me though 😂. I'll have to see where my 53 year old eyesight can get me.

@Steve Smith Never too late. I play pool with my sons everyday in my living room. I have a 12 year old that is really starting to blossom on the table and a 7 year old that's still getting his stroke figured out. I only go to the bars when we're on vacation in the Philippines and it's strictly to play pool with the absolute hustling, killer pool players they have over there. Pick up a cue and go hit some balls!!!!!

@@truss6282 there's not much action where I live now but I dug my old cues out and they're still in perfect shape. Planning to get my stroke back on step and go find some places to play some player's and see what I need to work on.

This is a very beautiful cue. I have seen you write you are a new cue maker and still learning. I understand there is always room to learn. Every true master at a craft like this knows that. But, you have reached a stage where one should not consider you new no matter how long you have been building cues. I wish you were located in St. Louis.

Like how that one cue turned out… I’ve been doing cue shaft repairs and tip installs for many years. Just doing it mostly as a hobby and request for those who just don’t have the money, but, love the game of pool. So I’m a serious amateur at this. (Have made a few two piece cues in the last three years and repaired some broken butt ends at/near the pin joints with surprising good results). Keep up the good work. Enjoy your videos 👍

I enjoy your work and videos. You have a marvelous shop. BTW I am not a troll. I am an aged Tool & Die maker & Journeyman Machinist who for 45 years worked metal. Before I retired I took up woodworking making mechanical toys and fine boxes among many other things. Did this for about 25 years. You stated that what draws to this work is the fulfillment it gives you, machinist, woodworker, CNC, etc. You are very creative.. You are a very young man doing work alone and as a result you need to be safety conscious in order to prolong your ability to perform. Eye protection is why I am writing to you. You expose your self needlessly to eye injury and as I watch you work I notice the value you place on your sight. Please protect it wear eye & hearing protection. The loss of either will prevent you from experiencing the success you may achieve. I played Snooker many, many years ago and your cues an absolutely beautiful. I would purchase one if I still played. Bona Fortuna, Thanks for the videos

You may be in the early days of your cue-making career, but your work is already outstanding and absolutely beautiful. I am so happy that you choose to share your journey with us. That being said, please always be mindful of your health, and the health of your feline overlords. Use that PPE, and don't ever, _ever_ forget to put it on, and when working with dangerous materials, be they wood or otherwise, keep the kitties out so they don't get sick. As someone who is disabled, in a large part from an old work injury, I can tell you that for all the wonderous things our medical community can do, there's still a lot that they can't fix. As you plan and design your gorgeous works of functional art, keep health and safety in the forefront of your mind.

Nice cue... Interesting idea on the bottom. Have you tried any with a wrap? I love the Irish linen wrap. I used to have a few Meucci cues.. they used to resin over the wrap...I hated it, it drove me nuts. (This was like 25 years ago.) Though they hit terrific, I just couldn't stand that glossed over, slippery grip. I just love the feel of the wrap.
