My station also still works fine, but be careful, the 14.4V batteries do not have undervoltage protection, i think also the 18V ones also don't have. if you leave it open for long it can destroy the batteries, I did it one time and had to replace the cells inside the battery.

Hi, Thanks for your helpful info. Your enclosure design is really nice. The only problem is, I don't have a 14.4v battery. lol I ever run it until the battery is low. I think the soldering controller starts blinking and stops heating up while PSU is still on. But I think the battery is still ok. Really not sure about the under-voltage protection.

Is it difficult to make one that takes traditional 900M style tips? I want to make a station dedicated to installing heat-set insert nuts, but the installation tips don't work with cartridge-style soldering irons.

Is this what you're referring to? s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DmgDenp You can find a convenient purchasing option for this item. I've actually placed an order myself to give it a try. s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DltDNpZ

@@simplymaker Yes I was referring to something like that. Too bad that the iron has a minimum temperature of 300 C, though. For PLA plastic, one should set the soldering iron to around 225 C to avoid deforming the plastic more than needed. I liked your idea of making an iron because I thought I might be able to reach a lower minimum temp. Thanks for the reply!

I didn't notice that, will let you know how it goes when I received it. Thanks 👍

Hi were you able to change the amp draw for the soldering iron. It uses only 15w for me and the soldering station board can use up to 75w. (I would like to speed up the iron heating time)

I think it is limited by the battery pack.

@@simplymaker I have a 6a Makita battery that can provide >300w, so i doubt that 😅

@@jobvanwijngaarden maybe you coud try using boost converter (step up) and set the voltage to 24v

It is possible to connect other DC devices to it and use it as an adjustable power source.
