Hes so cute. I think you did a great job of describing and demonstrating all the steps in making a little prim stuffie.

Cute snowman! Just a tip, you can tea dye unbleached muslin fabric for an aged look for primitive fabric projects.
@Peppercreekcottage
10 ай бұрын
Thank you! I have tea dyed my muslin before but it never quite turned out as I had hoped it would. Maybe I didn’t get the tea strong enough or leave it in long enough I don't know, so I switched to the instant coffee and vanilla mixture because I can mix up a strong concoction of it.😂😁

Thank you so much! I was a little worried that it might get too long and boring because I'm also a very visual learner so I wanted to show as much of the process as possible. I figured people could fast forward if need be so thank you again for watching all of it.

What a lovely snowman. Did you use anything in the bottom to make him sit straight and not fall over?
@Peppercreekcottage
10 ай бұрын
Thank you! No I did not add anything in the bottom. When you glue on the candy cane it helps stabilize it so it can stand on it's own.

I love this snowman! Thank you for sharing. What type of muslin did you use? Is it the "gauze" type that is really light weight? Or where did you get your muslin? I like the texture and I don't want to get the wrong kind. Thank you!
@Peppercreekcottage
25 күн бұрын
Thank you! The fabric I used for this snowman was some leftover muslin from a quilt I made (the backing fabric). I purchased it at Hobby Lobby and it's one of the muslins that is either 90" or 110" wide (or somewhere in between) It is somewhat lightweight but not gauzy. At the Hobby Lobby I purchased this from they have the wider width muslins on the back wall with the interfacing and batting that you can buy from a bolt. I hope that helps.

I appreciate you showing in real time, it makes it better for me to understand and how you got the snowman together. He is cute. Love the pins and bells a lot better than just buttons. Where do you purchase your rusty bells, pins and snowflakes? Do you do them your self? If so can you share the process. Thank you.
@Peppercreekcottage
9 ай бұрын
Thank you! Yes I did rust the bells and safety pins myself. I put about 2 cups of hydrogen peroxide into a container and add about 4 tablespoons of vinegar along with 2 teaspoons of salt and then add the items I want to rust. Make sure to put it in a somewhat deep container because it will have a reaction that makes it foam up so be sure to put it into something that will contain it and not allow it to overflow. Also, you will get a better rusting result with the cheaper quality bells and pins that you get from Dollar Tree. They don't seem to have as much of a protective coating on them. I just leave them in the solution until I get the desired amount of rust. Again, it will all depend on how good the quality of your item is as to how fast it will rust. I hope this helps!

Love this..definitely making it. Where dud you get the pin bell embellishments?
@Peppercreekcottage
16 күн бұрын
Thank you! The rusty bells and pins I made using Dollar Tree jingle bells and safety pins and rusting them in a mixture of salt, hydrogen peroxide and vinegar. I usually use the Dollar Tree ones because they are cheap (in price and quality😂) and don't have a very good protective coating so they rust really fast.
@tammydixon7910

Just wondering… is there any reason why you couldn’t do the embellishments ( eyes, buttons, nose) before the cloth was sewn together and stuffed? It turned out so cute, though.
@Peppercreekcottage
11 ай бұрын
Thanks Tammy! I think maybe it could get distorted when you’re stuffing it, but maybe not. I've never really thought about doing it like that. I think I might try that method though to see what happens. All I would be losing is a little bit of my time. Thanks for giving me something to think about!

Thank you! For the coffee stain I just put instant coffee, imitation vanilla extract (both from Dollar Tree), warm water and a little bit of isopropyl alcohol in a spray bottle. I don't really measure anything I just put the water in and then add the other ingredients. The rubbing alcohol is just to keep the coffee mixture from molding so it's just a small amount depending on the size of your spray bottle. If you're going to use the entire amount that you mix up on your project and not store it for any amount of time you can omit the alcohol. I hope this helps!

I make them. I usually use the cheap ones (jingle bells and safety pins) from Dollar Tree because they don't have a very good protective coating on them. I mix up salt, hydrogen peroxide and vinegar and let them soak until I get the desired amount of rust.

How come you do not do the face before you sew it all together?
@Peppercreekcottage
7 күн бұрын
I always do the face after I sew it together so I can place the eyes and nose exactly where I want it to be. If I did it first the face could end up being too high up or too low because the fabric does get slightly distorted when you stuff it but that's just my experience.😁
