When I was there in '98, Division 012, Chief Plyler marched us so often, at all times of day, that we would often march in our sleep. No joke or exaggeration. You'd remember forming up outside the barracks, and then you'd wake up at the mess hall, or the parade grounds, still in formation, with no recollection of the march whatsoever.

I respect all branches of the military but comparing this video to my Marine Corps boot camp experience makes this look like it is a very chill and relaxed environment. Even when they are screaming at the recruits it doesn't appear to put fear into their hearts. Then again with this being on the media I'm sure it altered their training in some ways.

At ASF academy in Pearl Harbor we were trained by a Marine Cadre. The PT was tough as hell, and almost killed me, but they went soft on the OC. Sprayed it into a can and made us put our face in and inhale. The unarmed self defense and PPT training, on the other hand, was OUTSTANDING! =-)

It is imperative that FRATERNIZATION will not be tolerated in this training period. I had experienced in my own skin how favoritism and fraternization destroyed any illusions I have in the NAVY. Because a First Class Petty Officer liked a female junior sailor and she had most opportunities than the rest of the crew. This kind of situation forces other sailors to treat the Service as unfair to others.
