Hello, I’m new to diorama building. I’ve been back in modelling for a few years so have been collecting a tonne of what my wife calls rubbish 🤣🤣🤣 I’ve been watching a lot of KZitem and gotten a fairly good idea what I want to do. It’ll mostly be 1/35th WWII German armour I do with a few 1/32nd aircraft. The diorama’s will be mostly bombed out buildings r old Russian present dwelling’s. I’ve been getting a few silicone moulds but found they are quite expensive… I live on invalidity pension so my money isn’t a lot. Anyway I got a silicon mould kit off of eBay last week and want to make my own moulds for bricks, cobbles and stone blocks for walls etc. i also wanted to do a few slate roof tiles and the normal roof tiles but have no idea how to make them. Do I need a release agent that I put on the parts to be moulded ie when I make my own mould ??? And then when I’m casting said bricks etc do I need to put any release agent in the mould before adding the plaster ??? What do you recommend please 🙏🙏🙏 as I said I’m new to this side of the hobby but I’d like to build a few decent buildings that I can then place my tanks on and weather them all accordingly 🤓🤓🤓 any help or advice you can give me I’d be extremely grateful for 🙏😊👍 I’d also just like to say your how to videos are great. Simple, cheap none branded paints and easy to follow instructions. Some I’ve watched are, for me, way over the top and blind me with science and BIG words I don’t understand. You’d are to the point, no messing about and quite refreshing if I may say so 😊😊😊 I hope to see more of your work soon as you really do have a wonderful gift and a great eye for details. Like your roof tile jig and how to maximise the real look, I found that very interesting. Yes it’s a tedious job but I myself find those kind of jobs calming like building individual track links or sanding all the wheels on tanks, to me that’s not boring at all especially if it adds so much more detail to your build 🤓🤓🤓 Anyway I hope you can answer my questions 🤞🤞🤞 take care, and looking forward to seeing more of your wonderful work. Kindest regards, Kenny.

Sorry. I know the video is quite sparse on detail. I will try to improve the quality. What do you want to know?

Interesting, can you tell me about the silicone you are using ….. looked like a powder ( hardener ? ) mixed into it which I have never seen before , Thanks

It’s a liquid catalyst--no powder. Just regular condensation cure RTV silicone.

I have made plaster rock formations for a castle I made but I'm a little leery to apply the plaster rock formations because they seems so fragile and I fear if it's bumped they will crack or chip. Is there a way to harden plaster to preserve the plaster?

I wonder what plaster you used? I don't know how to harden the plaster you've already used which sounds to fragile for its intended purpose. I'm sorry. It's frustrating to craft something and then fear using it. I make my rocks from foam, then use them to make silicone moulds and then cast the rocks in herculite plaster. It's pretty hard stuff.

@@oliverjolly8953 Ah... maybe that's it. You use "real" plaster I believe I used Plaster of Paris, its basically the consistency of chalk!

Hi. Thanks for sharing this nice technique. Can you please explain the used materials to to do the molding compound? silicone + what? 😅

Thanks. Silicone will come with a catalyst. You mix these to activate the silicone

Hello, to simplify the detachment, I suggest you brush with body oil on the model pieces to create the mold and then also on the mold when you pour the mixture! Are the railings you made in the dioramas 3d printed? Tnx❤️
