Obviously I'm a year late, lol, but what would you charge for a knife like that? I want to get into knife making too and am not sure how to price! Do you figure price by the by the hour, or do you charge premium on top of materials cost? Thanks, and it looks great!

eliprince1 to answer your question, Would you price a Vincent Vangouh painting by the hour? Obviously not so why do so for your knife building
@eliprince1

@@ZIPPOMANIAC he is running a home business, it is perfectly reasonable to value your labor at an hourly rate when determining the price of the product you're trying to sell. I knife that took me 5 hours to make isn't worth $1000 just because i think it's really cool, know what I'm sayin? :)

I lost my Buck 110 that I have had for over 30 years. A gentleman at work found it and knew it was mine, and returned it. I was so thankful I wanted to make him an edc, I would give him as a reward for being so honest. I was looking for a shape something fast and I will make a sheath for it this turns out to be the shape that inspired me thanks for your content God bless from Tucson

How to do you get such a mirror finish just using the 2x72? I would've thought there'd need to be a lot of hand sanding on the primary bevel for that level of finish. I don't make knives but I watch a lot of videos and your finishes really stand out

The first things I noticed were: you are highly skilled. You have machinery most of us only dream about. You need to take a chill pill because you're beyond relaxed. You don't respond to many questions or comments - only to the compliments or a few technical ones. Yet your outreach is actually to the little guy - the dreamers - the ones who want to learn but haven't reached your level. Just offering a few observations here that I hope will actually encourage you.

Learnt a nice tip from president of Australian knife makers guild. He uses two big blocks of aluminium that he clamps the knife between as soon as it comes out of the kiln. The aluminium works as a quench as it conducts heat so well. He uses shims for the tip cut out of a can. Keeps knife straight and cleaner than oil.
@Simplelittlelife

I actually did a place quench on this one (you can see the 1" aluminum in the opening shots. That's why I was quite surprised to have a warp on that blade. I've done 154CM, CPM 154 and have had no issues. This was a surprise to me for sure!

I just finished chefs knife made out of 1/8 inch Nitro-V and had the same problem. I followed all the steps to avoid a warp: 1. Cut and ground the profile, but did not bevel pre-heat treat. 2. Wrapped in 309 stainless foil. 3. Austenized at 1950°F and soaked for 20 minutes. 4. Plate quenched. When I took it out of the foil it warped like a banana right in front of eyes. It took several tempering cycles, hammering, and bending it in a vise to get it back to acceptable straightness. The subzero quench also brought some of the warp back. I hope I don't have to go through this with every knife I make out of Nitro-V. It'd be nice if you did a video on straightening it.
