Running commentary: Yes, the safety squint! Australian houses need better insulation, it also helps keep houses cool in summer, but such is life. I am super impressed by your ability to pull a corset together from practically thin air. Yes we love a veil moment. No this running commentary is not in chronological order. I was wondering what the zipper was for on the corset so that's me answered. I love your candidness about mistakes. You are a woodland fairy! I never watched Sex and the City but !!! Baryshnikov! Love the concept of the massively long sleeve fall. Holy crap gassing yourself! The stoic unimpressed look on Alf's face when you asked if he wanted a walk!!! I have no patience for working with wire. It's all spiky, ow. But damn, that crown looks amazing. Oooooh moody reveal!!! Damn that costume looks fantastic. I actually like the weight and body of the sleeves, I think they look more .... uh... historical?? Lovely job on the makeup too!!! Fun video, thank you!

This was wonderful, thank you 🥰❤❤ If insulation also keeps our houses cool THEN WHAT ARE WE DOING I am baffled by our lack of insulation. I think you're right about the sleeves in the end too, more weight was better. I struggled SO much with the make up, I don't wear foundation and I didn't know how to put it on. How do people not get eyeshadow on the cheeks and have to re-do the foundation??

@@ashbentley LOL tbh I co-ran a makeup blog for a while a decade ago and I think the biggest secret was that if you were fast and lucky, masking tape can lift the stray eyeshadow without disturbing the foundation. But mostly I ended up fixing foundation again after doing the eyes. Mascara is the worst - it goes everywhere.

not sewing related but insulation related lol. Insulation is a barrier, so it keeps the cold out in winter and keeps the heat out in summer, it also helps to keep whatever temperature u set inside.

Try to insulate the house if it's possible for you!! (With materials that allow the house to breath!) It really helps against the heat in summer besides the cold in winter. It keeps the inside temperature even, so when outside temp rises, inside should stay even. Especially when you air the house in the night when it has cooled off.

@@ashbentley how do you know which shape the corset parts should have? Making a corset seems really complicated to me 😅
@ashbentley
Ай бұрын
I've made a lot of corsets, so you tend to get an eye for what shape they should have. But it's also what you think looks good visually. I started with the regular McCalls, Simplicity patterns etc, but they never fit me right and rather than trying to reshape their patterns, I find this method easier. I think the most important thing when it comes to the shape of the pieces is to try to put the seams over your curves, so that when you place the pattern piece on the fabric, it can sit flat. If parts of the piece are trying to curve and you can't flatten it out, you need another seam. I also find that corset patterns are actually really forgiving! As long as it's not too big for you, you can kind of pull it tight with lacing and it conforms! I find pants and shirts much more confusing 😅

Do eyelids count as safety glasses?🤔… I mean not according to my mother in law, she just had to get a surgery on her eye ball to peel back layers of her eye so the dr could figure out what was causing it to not heal properly. The original injury was caused by a small piece of metal that had flew into her eye at work! She went to the eye doctor and they had to grind out the small fragment. The doctor thought they got it all out and flushed properly, gave her a little contact lens bandage, antibiotics, and eye drops. When those didn’t work after a week or so she had a stem cell treatment for her eye and when that Still did not work she had the operation … Turns out it went a ways deeper than they thought originally! We are all crossing our fingers and hoping that she is on the mend! I personally intend to take her terrible experience to heart and learn from it! Safety glasses are not optional.😬

So did you know you are supposed to empty any extra water out of your iron after each session? Yeah, it isnt that you arent using distilled water, its that you are leaving water in it and it is rusting inside out. Distilled water helps with calcification not rust. There is a creator here on youtube who shows the insides of how different irons work. Very cool. My iron said to NOT use distilled water. Who knows. Also. Irons are very expensive.😢 Edited for spelling
