I’m completely fascinated on how you teach revit. Keep it up! I have one questions how can I create concrete wall panels in revit or can I find a website to download a revit family for a wall concrete panel

Revit has Object Styles pre-set for each category, and you can simply change them to whatever you want. There are also many Line Styles to choose from and a button to make more. There are only 16 different Line Weights in Revit. You can’t make more. But 16…That’s plenty. :)

You are easy to listen to and learn, thanks. Ok, I finished a new Residence and it's under construction. Now the Client wants to add an ADU and a Storage Barn on the same property. I would like to make separate building files for these but, within the original project file so I can easily make different permit submittals using the same Site and Grading Plan information. I tried setting up the new structures as new Groups, but I found that that was not going to work. What's the best way to separate multiple structures in one project. Or is this advisable ?
@miketaylor8211

You can easily add other structures to the project. Yes they will be separate models...linked into the main model... but they are ONLY GEOMETRY. You can do all the dimensions and annotation in the one main model.

Enjoyed the video. Very good beginning thoughts on template creation. Wondering if you might create a video on best practices for naming conventions.. Such as for families, system families etc? Thanks
@miketaylor8211

Great idea. Naming conventions really help keep organized. Each firm has their own way of doing it, but I will make a video about naming! Thanks.

@@miketaylor8211 That would be great! Just something thst would help guide to some sort of method. There are so many elements in Revit to name its difficult to organize without being overly complex! All the best!

how to minimize the template sizes such as how to delete default material which is regenerating even if i delete
@miketaylor8211
2 жыл бұрын
To reduce the size of the template you should look for what is causing the biggest issue. Like: get rid of any extra IMAGES or FAMILIES that you do not absolutely need. Those can bring the template size down if you purge them. A material will only be about 1K size.

What about Worksets? Do they have to be added for each project.
@miketaylor8211
2 жыл бұрын
Yes.. Worksets have to be added to each project. Worksets are only available AFTER a project has Worksharing turned on. One time: I tried creating a Generic Project, turned on Worksharing and setup the Worksets. I then used THAT project as my template. To do that you simply open it and use SaveAs to start a project. I fount it was simpler to just start from scratch each time since all projects are different. Hope that helps.

@@miketaylor8211 If you use pretty much the same worksets for each project. Is there a way to "Copy Paste" (for lack of a better expression) them from one project to another?
@AussieBIMGuru

Dynamo or pyrevit can make worksets fairly easily. Try out my package called Crumple in dynamo which can make worksets from a list of strings (text).
