A photo collection montage from former Sally Corporation art department fabricator Erik Hollander, showing the creation of the "Hollander" brothers "Billy" and "Bobby" for the Canobie Lake Park darkride: "Mine of Lost Souls" back in the early 90s.
The twin characters - modeled from Erik himself - became a central part of the ride's backstory. The legend of the haunted mine began with the disappearance of two wandering brothers who discovered a cave which was soon after exploited for its rich gold deposits. mysteriously, the boys went missing and were never seen again - UNTIL - park guests take a mine car ride through its depths, where the trail leads to increasing chills and thrills. Mid-way though the ride, riders will come across the resting place of the twins, whose decayed corpses lay in state while the ghastly spirits of the boys rise from their slumber (via a Pepper's ghost illusion) to welcome new visitors to "play with". The video also contains images of the making of the Grim Reaper character, as well as the skeletons and cursed mummy seen in the ride.
Hope you enjoy these never-before-seen images of the creative process of one of Canobie Lake Park's most beloved attractions. Available in 4k for browsers which will allow it.
