Tom, we work in the smithy at Tees Cottage Pumping Station in Darlington. We are a Victorian water pumping station, the bellows in the smithy date back to 1853 and work every Wednesday plus 5 steaming weekends throughout the year. The forge used to run on coal but we now use coke, your fire always looks clean, which coke do you use please.

Hello! I use forge coke from R A Blackfords in Uckfield, so local to me. I'm not sure if there's anything out of the ordinary about it but always feels nice quality. I usually have to dig it out 2-3 times a day if I'm on the forge all day, and generally I try to keep it as clean as possible.

This is an excellent video, I've made any number if blanks and then stared at them wondering what to do next.

Thank you, I'd start with working out what you need to hold. I find if I do a particular process quite often I can try and think of my process would be quicker with tongs, then I work out how to make them.
