Nice video. How do you get those thin spacers off your printer bed without damaging them?

the rings and holders usually come off the plate with little effort and by hand, usually I need to use the removal tool, which is a thin not sharp blade, for the movement side spacers with the date window. just gently side under and work around. They don’t stick super tight usually.

It’s a resolution to finish those this year. I’m just sitting on the parts 🤦♂️ Feel free to remind me if I don’t mention it in a couple months haha.

Have you done a holder for the new(ish). Seiko VH31 movement. (Interesting because it's 4 ticks per second and looks like the watch has a mechanical movement.)

I've seen a video of one of that mods and the seconds look very good. The only problem is that the VH31 does not have a date complication and I see no good solution to cover the date window.

@@aemvasconcelos Yeah, I generally choose watches that don't have the date complication, since with my old eyes I can't read that tiny little number anyway. I have several Chinese VH31 watches, and like them a lot. All the advantages of quartz, without the tick-tick-tick second hand.

I have a project coming this year to fit the VH31 to the SKX case or maybe a couple cases…guess I forgot to mention that one! But yes…coming soon. I like the VH31.

@@scottparis6355 I need my glasses to read the date too, with the exception of an Invicta pro diver that have a cyclops (that I'm not a fan). My first VH31 watch is on the way from ali, a Mysterious Code, dumb name in my opinion, it's lucky that they don't try to print that on the dial 😀. At last I found a list of the VH family, and no luck from that side, all that have a date complication use a sub dial hand and not a date wheel. It might be a battery trade in, as sweeping seconds use more power than a normal quartz, and an hour wheel will require more power to move than a small sub dial hand... pity...

Can you use a laser engraver like xtool f one.

Fiber lasers can be used to make custom dials, but capabilities are limited depending on the specific model. Usually, capable lasers are in the 5 - 10k range.

Hey! question would it be possible to recase an eta 2824 movement into an NH35 case?
@WatchComplications
9 ай бұрын
yes it is likely possible since the 2824 is thinner than the NH35

Thanks for your reply, i reckon I'd have to get spacers and a crown tube or so? as it wouldnt be just straight forward placement @@WatchComplications

the case probably already has a crown tube, but yeah, you would need a custom holder and spacer, which is the type of work I do.

Would it be possible to adapt a NH-35 movement to a casio MVD-106 or MVD-107 case and dial ? I love the casio duro looks, having one that it's an automatic instead of a quartz is something that I've been thinking for some time.

I see the case is about 12.6mm height, which may have enough depth for the NH35. The potential hangup with the NH35 is that it’s fairly thick, at about 5.3mm if I recall, so it comes down to where the stem can sit. One of those things that would have to be tested to know for sure.

Thanks for the videos, I am currently converting a Oakley Timebomb Watch from a Seiko kinetic movement to an ETA 2824 automatic movement. I have moved the dial legs but the next step is the movement holder 🤞. Don't for get if you put a spacer in between the dial and the movement it will create a larger gap then normal, which means the hour wheel may lift up and become disengage and gear teeth being damaged. Also the hands will not be aligned if this occurs. Cheers Dean 👍

Yeah I know what you mean about the movement side spacers, but they are super super thin and I typically only use them or sell them in two situations: first, the 7002 it’s an option, though I prefer dial side, and second if someone is using the 515.24h.2 which has taller hand pins that accommodate the lift. Thanks for watching!

Make sure the hour wheel washer that sits in between the dial and hour wheel has enough force against the dial to keep the hour wheel held down during an impact to the watch. Happy New Year from Australia 👍

yup and it’s an option for buyers if they want a support around the wheel, but in my experience it’s not an issue and the presence/friction of the part is more of an issue than the absence.
