So you do want the images to curl up or so it has that puckered look

That's one way. Having the dichroic curl up gives it a pool like effect.

Jeff good to see a new video from you, hope your New Year is off to a good start! Lovely idea and a good way to use any scrap dichro one may have as well. Thanks for the great ideas! p.s. for some reason your sound was super low and a challenge to hear, I got the point, but wanted to mention it. 🙂

Thanks Jeff for this lesson using dichroic scraps. I often wondered how to get that added dimension with the dichro running up the sides. I’ll try it this week and see if I can get the same results. Question: how do you determine the dichroic side? Sometimes it’s hard to tell depending on the patterns/colors.

Hi Carol. I should have put that in the video. The way I do is to hold it up to the light at an angle so I get a reflection from one side c lose to the edge. If the reflection goes all the way to the edge, and basically hides the edge of cut edge of the glass, that's the dichroic side. If you turn it over and look you should see the cut edge and the reflection deeper in the glass. Hard to describe. I'll do a small video about it and post it.

I love making dichro cabochons. What is the device you are using to hold the piece while grinding?
@RocketRoseArt
Жыл бұрын
Hi Susan. I assume you mean when grinding the cabs on the diamond wheels. That is called a 'dop stick'. The cabochon is attached with wax. You can see me attaching the cab in some of the videos. Hope this helps.

Hi Carolyn. Sorry. I think just the earlier ones are low. Have you tried to more recent ones?
