Wakkanai has not had any major disasters to date, so the collapse is basically due to long-term neglect. The population was about 55,000 at its peak in 1975, but now it is about 30,500. The population has been decreasing approximately 700 people per year. 18:58 Central Shopping Street There is a festival every year from about July 5 to July 7, and it is the only place where the annual excitement happens. LOL I lived in a house on that street in 1980. All the stores on the street were filled, there were toy stores, lots of kids and people. Yes, it was not so different from Sapporo. 24:56 Further up the mountain where the statue stands is the centennial memorial tower, which contains an exhibition room with photographs of the nine deceased. Admission is charged. There is also an observation room and a telescope.

They sell packets of that instant corn soup on amazon, it's very very similar in texture to instant mashed potatoes when dried, but I assume the ratio of powder/water is way different, and the flavoring is intensified. They also sell other packets like miso, onion, beef, chicken, etc. The foil packs I bought were super cheap and generic looking, so I imagine there's an overall general supplier making them. I wouldn't be surprised if you literally load the exact foil packets I had into the machine, and it opens and dispenses them into the cup.

I mean the lady and the guy skateboarding were very nice to you, especially considering you're a total stranger. Also on a different note, sometimes the subtitles bit can really get a little too much in the way, it'd be nice if you signalled for instance with a different colour when they were made up. For example it wasn't clear at all with the supposedly rude shop owner, of course the most extreme bits weren't true, but what did he actually say? At least don't put "it's all true by the way", I get it's a joke but at that point you literally can't trust anything at all that we see or hear in your videos.

Agree 100%, I think what happened in the shop is that he was pointed in the corner for some reason (that was the "true" part), but the rest was made up. It would be nice to know what the owner actually said (what was his reason for not letting him sit at the counter)? I do love the subtitles and for the most part, it's obvious when they are made up, but as you say sometimes it's not, it's especially hard to tell when he's transitioning in and out of the real/made-up convo. I think everyone would be happier if the made up subs were a different color.

Traditionally in japan if you're alone you go to the long seats in the back, or the bar, as the tables for four are usually reserved for actual groups of 4. (Where you were trying to sit.) The man in the store was offering you to sit in the more comfortable long seats since you were by yourself, you just misheard or misinterpreted it. I love your vlogs tons but purposely trying to give bad image to the store just because you misheard is a tad annoying, specially when assuring things in the subtitles.

Some of it might be, but the majority is likely from all the fishing that goes down there and river deltas. A lot of the waste consists of fishing nets and buoys. I rode my bicycle across Hokkaido camping out every night. Inland it is extremely clean, but the beaches up north do have some plastic waste, sadly.

it seems to me that the shop owner who was rude to you might just not like you filming other guests without you asking for concent. its not like in bigger cities where its absolutely normal to have irl streams and shit going on everywhere all the time. just saying that because i feel like the absolute same thing would happen almost everywhere where there is not a lot of foreign tourists (imagine some asian looking person entering a bar in some tiny ass place in texas, just straight up filming).
