Great video, i was wondering how do they know what type of rocks are there? I presume they have to dig or bore into ground and if so, how far down do they have to dig or bore?

Good question. In general geological maps (including those in the video) rely on direct observations of rocks found at the Earth's surface (exposed in outcrop).

what a wonderful reconceptualisation of a topographic map as a cross section!! I would love to be able to be able to see it like you draw it as a habit! Thanks for making it look so accessible!
