Here is a little summary! I hope this helps.
1 - Glitch Fills
These are good for adding extra texture to your song. Add distortion to some sounds or find some glitch samples.
2 - Distorted Synth Bass
Detuned synth bass with chorus and distortion
3 - Metalic Snare
Another common hyperpop sound!
4 - Background Sounds
Add harmonic support without being distracting. Underrated!
5 - Contrasting Sections
Add variation to different sections of your song, map out what will be loud, soft
6 - Same Melody, Different Synth
Rather than repeat the same thing, try voicing the melody in a different synth
7 - Strategic Silence
Great way to keep attention. Watch out for the release lengths of your synths. Ask yourself, does this need to be held out in this moment? Also full beat “stops” where everything cuts out are good.
8 - No Looping Drums
Your drums don’t have to play all the time, when are they needed? You can chop out pieces of loops, have half off- half on sections, cut out at the ends or beginnings of sections and much more
9 - Small Variations
When you bring something back, how is it going to sound different? The listener will be more entertained if there is something slightly different. Add in a thin synth layer on top, a new drum sound, etc.
10 - Chops / Stutter Fills
Cut up audio files and repeat them right after each other to create a choppy - stutter-y effect commonly used in hyperpop songs, especially on vocals right before they come in.
