Making it to the top of Japan in our self converted bus camper van. After departing from Himeji, in Hyogo Prefecture, we have driven more than 2500km to Oma in Aomori Prefecture, the most northern point of Japan's biggest island Honshu.
In this video, we explore northern Aomori and experience our first night of bus life in Japan's remote north.

WHO AM I? I’m Shota and I left Japan at the age of 19 and spent 9 years travelling and discovering the world. In early 2020, I returned to Japan with my Scottish girlfriend Ruth and we converted an old delivery van into a DIY camper van to live in full-time. We spent 18 months doing full-time van life in Japan and visited many incredible places off the beaten path. While on our van trip, we spontaneously purchased an ex-Japanese police bus we saw for sale and took on the challenge of converting it into our dream off-grid tiny home on wheels!
