One thing that sounds trivial but isn't is fermentation skills. Fermentation leads to vinegar for pickles or making vanilla flavoring or fabric softener or cleaning products or distilling for alcohol to make stronger tinctures. Think how many things you can replace with things you grow if you can't find or afford them in the store.

Thank you for the excellent explanation of kombucha making. I was scared I was going to poison myself when I first started making ferments 😂 Now it’s a pleasure to have homemade vinegar and sauerkraut. Haven’t tried kombucha yet though. Glad you warned that it’s not pretty!

Good morning Jacqueline ❤️ I purchased my first scoby from Amazon. The scoby grows during the fermentation process. Put one in your new ferment and put the extras in a jar with some of the Kombucha liquid . Thank you so much. Have a blessed weekend 😊💚

Ok, I think I only have 1 question 🤣, yes I am optimistic 😊. You add some kombucha to your new batch, if it’s my first time making it I won’t have kombucha to add. Is it necessary or is the scoby the only thing you must have?
@Sweettomatovine

Yes it is necessary so for your first batch you will need a store bought kombucha to add into your brew ❤️😊💚

Good afternoon, where do you get the scobie, and where is the recipe?
@Sweettomatovine
Ай бұрын
Hi Mable❤️ I purchased my first Kombucha scoby from Amazon. Pay close attention to rather it is for a gallon or a half gallon. The amount of tea bags, sugar and water will come with the scone. I made a double batch so I used 14 tea bags 2 cups of sugar and started with 6 cups of water. After boiling the water with the tea bags, remove from the heat and stir in the sugar. Allow to completely cool. Add cold water( a gallon to two gallons depending on how much you’re making) and 1/2 cup to 1 cup of Kombucha liquid. Kombucha liquid will come with the scoby that you purchase. Store in a dark place like a pantry shelf for 7-14 days to ferment. After fermentation is complete, you can add fruit of your choice and do a second ferment to add fruit flavor. Pour into bottles and refrigerate. Enjoy 😊💚
