@@FarbulousCreations I try to make a couple every year to give to friends and family. I make a version much different than your which now feel so simplistic after I see the reindeer you have created. But I have stylized them to something unique and I am sure everyone adds their personal touch to a project like this. I sign mine on the bottom of a foot with the year, you should consider doing something similar in a inconspicuous spot if you don't already. Else 10 years from now you'll have people wondering who made them and when.

I love this! I like that you included your strubbles while you went! I've been switching to Shapr3D from Solidworks and I was having some mad stubbles and I left it out of my screen recording...but now I wish I hadn't. I really like seeing the whole process from you. Including the band saw errors. Also, yours looks waaay better than the original!
@FarbulousCreations

Thanks Liv! Glad you like them! Absolutely - I'm a big believer in showing mistakes as you go. It's so easy when someone is starting out to get intimidated by the people making tutorials never showing any mistakes, when we in fact all make them all the time! :) Good luck learning Shapr3D -I feel like I've heard good things from that too!
@Livshaka
3 жыл бұрын
@@FarbulousCreations yes 100%! I feel like half the time when I make something it is a trial and error process! Haha. Shapr3D is gorgeously intuitive and simplistic but it does provide complexity in a simplified way. Like a lot of software that is streamlined and simplified, I find there are occasions where I want it to do something different and that isn't even an option. But it handled much of the quick aesthetic stuff much more easily than solidworks in a way. It's definitely fun to play with if you have the opportunity! I tend to use illustrator for my vectors and pop my dwg into whatever software I'm using so it was cool watching you basically do that in a subtractive way!

Neato video!! I'd like to try this! I'm curious what are the dimensions of the blocks of wood, particularly how thick?? Also its seems like the darker walnut lends itself to the reindeer better aesthetically huh? I think I will try the walnut too.
@FarbulousCreations
3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, glad you liked the video! I believe the block of wood for the maple one was roughly 10.75" x 5.25" x 1.5". The walnut one I don't remember for sure, but I believe the board was just over 1" thick, so it was probably around 8.5" x 3.75" as a block. Walnut definitely has the right color palette for a reindeer, but I honestly think any wood would work - I'd love to see one in cherry or mahogany, maybe even a spalted wood? Sky's the limit!

@FarbulousCreations
2 жыл бұрын
Hey Elijah! I believe it was a 1/4" blade with 6 teeth per inch (TPI). A narrow blade allows tighter turns and curves than a thicker, stiffer blade. Regardless of blade, always go slow and make relief cuts if you need more room to make a turn. Good luck!
