Well said - there's no "right way" for everyone. It all comes down to hauling things from the curbside to wherever you' can make a little money off them.

Why don't you back up your truck in your work area and throw all your tin shred as you taking things apart ? I only scrap copper wire because i live in an apartment, i would love to own a home so i could scrap other items but for i can only do copper wire and i also clean it by hand. Thank you for the video, i learned a lot.

Charles.... You should do these types of videos more often.... Somehow I missed this one and it is very educational watching how you dismantle something to get the most $$ out of it... You have a system and if it works... there's nothing wrong with the surroundings :)

Learned a lot from this video :) We would just pile metal and call a scrapper... through the years.... Living at a dead end dirt road in the boonies... my father in law saved everything whether he could use it or not..He was born in 1904 so guess it was fact of the depression.... Him and my husband worked for a contractor so they were always dragging home metal crap.... from big oil barrels to washers n dryers from factories... etc.... Now both have passed.... and who is left to try and clean up this mess...... I bet in last two years we have had 7 huge metal piles..... My youngest son still lives with me ( I have 4 sons) and he gets frustrated because daily he finds new crap.... Now he is attempting to clean out a barn in which they hid their stuff...... Tons n tons of pipes.. nuts, long bolts, and talk about wires.. spools n spools of them.....cast iron crap...... Last metal pile we contacted 5 different guys before it snowed... not a one came but they all said they would.. first come first takes it... Finally a beat up truck arrived but left before I could see who it was... Minutes later they came back... Guy used to come faithfully when we called him yrs ago and he vanished... so we had to find someone else.... Gather he fixed his truck... his ankle bracelet was removed LOL... and he was traveling around looking for his old " customers"...Dude speaks really broken english......Naturally he saw the metal pile and wasn't leaving without trying to contact us again.. (he was calling my husbands phone.. no longer in service)...... He was happy to take all the metal that was not still frozen solid in the ground....... House down the road from us burned down last year and she had told my son he could take any metal ( aluminum siding and cast iron and copper pipes)... ... Her house and garage were knocked down by city and just left..till she decides what she's doing....... My son wasn't romping over burnt wood and tons of rusty nails so we never took any so came up with a plan and told metal dude he can grab what he wants.....It was like watching two kids in a candy store.... throwing aluminum in the truck and jumping up and down on it to try and flatten it for more.... They made 7 trips with aluminum alone and came back for pipes.... Still plenty left but we havent seen them since..... I did tell my son to save copper or brass (money in the bank) and watching your videos showed me that sink faucets which we tossed for just metal have value.... Well I suppose everything has value.... :) if you have the means to transport it... I still can't tell the difference between copper and brass though.... He is also saving all the wire now but insists on removing the outside stuff.....so it just sits there in a pile because this wire has been stored for like since dinosuars LOL....I watched your videos and told him just scrap it as is.....Stripping the wires is gross...... What other items are actually brass that are silver color? We have found numerous items besides metal that have value... Even found a new in box Model T or A ..tire gauge..... tons of vintage fishing poles.... and wooden lures.... so far...... We do flea marketing and are able to sell quite a bit..... Anyways Thanks for the videos..... I keep you on auto play so i can catch up on the old ones... :)

How do you separate wires for a better price? I see the copper inside but when you say #1 or #2 it makes no sense....

Do you ever target a metal from the scrap around your place. Eg go for copper off everything and fill a box then go for wire or aluminium. That's what I do

That compressor is 3-4#of copper in it the smaller ones usually have 1-2#of copper depending...the bigger ones take (for me) 3 cutting disks...smaller 2
