It can be tricky to figure out the right thickness for the type of clay you're using. The more it shrinks while drying, the more prone to cracking it is cause the armature won't shrink with it. 🥲 I use slip or wall putty to fill in cracks - saved a lot of early projects from being recycled. 😂 I was so happy to see the paint did the trick just as well. They look amazing and in my opinion little imperfections add a special something to handmade projects. ❤️ Edit: The puffy paint is such a brilliant idea!!

@@briisokay I hope I'm not meddling too much. XD It's fun to see the the process of other sculptors and I really don't wanna take away the joy (sometimes pain) of figuring stuff out by yourself. 😆

Adorable! I really liked your wreath and this is equally cute! You can also use craft/aluminum wire to add strength and stability to your taller/longer sculptures. I suggest watching Ace Of Clay's videos. His style is VERY different. Think more of the horror genre but he is SUCH A GREAT SCULPTER. He also uses polymer clay exclusively but many of the techniques will transfer to air-dry clay. Watching his videos have helped me improve.

I'm confused as to why u didn't cover the cracks with more clay?

clay shrinks as it dries - so adding wet clay onto dry clay doesn’t really work out. it will typically just crack more and flake off 😔
