88 is third year for the EFI 2.9l.

My 87 also has same hole same spot as your behind passenger door. I've seen bronco 2s with that same rot hole same location I haven't figured out why that is.

Ive also seen a lot of broncos rusted out in those places. I do know that mine has gotten a lot worse since I’ve started driving it, I guess all the shaking and stuff has broken it more and more loose.

The socket that the bulb goes into is too corroded, and with how much the new one cost the light I put on made more sense.
