Looks good. Nothing like seeing brush piled up. The boys moved in and got 86 acres cut and piled for me in a week. They’ll be back this summer to disc it and some other stuff we piled last year. That KG blade sure shaved it smooth. I was getting worried cause it was getting late when they started the end of march.

@@Northern_Farmer million ways to break land. Lol. If my pockets were deeper I’d get a rotovator through it and be done in one pass, but discing seems to work out well too. Did a couple hundred acres that way already. Sure like those 36 inch blades sunk in to chew it up twice before I hit it with mine. Seems like a couple years of tillage before planting and after harvest it turns out pretty nice without much root picking.

Looks good. I hate working with old willows. It’s hard to do a nice job. Almost impossible to get all the roots out without filling the pile full of dirt. I use the hoe now whenever I can and just rake them out. Maybe a bit slower to begin with but the piles stay clean and you get most of the roots out at the same time. Hope your fan hub bearings are still good. Had to go through my 7E last winter and rebuild everything. You’re right the cat belts are a different width and. Different angle. Speced out the cat belts and the gates belts for my 7. Cat had them in stock and they weren’t horribly priced. Refaced most of pulleys while I was at it and actually replaced the fan pulley itself. Lucked out and found a almost new one that had been siting on a shelf for years. Gave me a good deal but shipping from Washington to Saskatchewan still counted up.

@@Northern_Farmermaybe I’m too old school, in 70’s to 90’s in NW Canada, I guess we followed Alcan Hwy ‘traditions’ of heating engines/transmissions under parachutes or tarps, to start, I garnered much mechanical experience & saw the effects of not heating trans/hyd systems & starting engine that’s been warmed through electricity or propane etc. & seeing sheared shafts. Viewed a few heads damaged by either, either lock etc. Older dozers like your beautiful specimens Are way more forgiving in all aspects than the hi drives. You filming your 8K while listing to shift brought me back to a more pleasant time. Enjoy your equipment, you’ve obviously earned the right. Stay well. Not saying it cannot or should not be used, we had 100+ pieces running in winter & co policy dictated no ether, but if a person has engine spinning & use sparingly, no prob. Everything was ‘chuted & preheated’ after -20, the point where starting diesels gets difficult.
