I don’t think it will ever be another game like God of war for a long time. Like Hugh Jackman playing Wolverine n 9 movies. We’ve been with Kratos for 18 years in 8 games. We’ve aged and mature with him. To any future game developers that reads this and want to make a Game like this one day. It’s not just the great game, and story but a 18yo character with memories and the attachment people have to that character. All of Kratos godly power, he also has the power to take us back to a time when we were Younger, where we were….at that point of our lives…..You can do it…. just know you’re gonna have to play the long game. Good luck 👍🏽

Just gotta say I never played a God of War game before 2018's and I still think both of these games are amazing. Sure nostalgia definitely adds to it but it's not the defining trait for something to be a masterpiece.
@bbswinn
Жыл бұрын
@@shanegoins4828 i think u ms understand. Sure I was talking about nostalgia a lil I guess….. But I said It wont be a game like this for a long time. Never said anything about masterpieces. It’s a lot masterpiece games that’s out right now…… I said it’s not JUST a great game and it’s not JUST a great story. But a character that we’ve mature with over 8 games. I have no doubt that you enjoy 2018 and Ragnarok. But just imagine Your level of joy may amplified 20x. If you played all the other games. Imagine how It would’ve felt in 2018 when he put the blades of chaos out. Sure you may have Knew of them. But without the prior games you didn’t know what they meant to Kratos and what they represent and a recap video is not the same. You don’t have the feeling that I have every time I played 2018 and Ragnarok and somebody is pushing Kratos. I feared for them not for Kratos. Pushing him over the edge will not be good for anyone. Because when he refers to his self as a monster that’s what he was. And as a kid playing the original games you didn’t think about it you think you’re a good guy. But if you’re an adult and you go back and play them you’ll realize damn he gives no fucks lol. That’s what I mean by mature with him. I watched a few let’s plays of people that went back and played all of the original games before they play the new ones. And every last one of them said I’m so glad I did it. Because they lived his life. And since they played all the games within a few months it was no nostalgia attached to it. I’m not taking away your enjoyment of the games But trust me you did yourself a disservice by not going back and playing the old one. You’ll never be able to play those games for the first time living (played) his backstory. It’s an experience …..that like I said won’t be around for a long time. Name me another character that’s a great story where u can know their whole life from childhood To old age to them Fathering a new generation.

I’ve been playing God of War since it’s first entry in 2005! 2018’s version took the franchise to a whole other level! I would have never thought the next title would come even close to it’s visuals, combat mechanics, beautiful visuals and storyline! Ragnarok definitely proved me wrong, the game is an absolute masterpiece! I’m on my 3rd play through and cannot stop! I keep playing to arrive at these beautiful new places like Svartalfheim, frozen Midgard, and Asgard! The design and effects team did such an amazing job designing Svartalfheim, the attention to detail definitely does not go unnoticed. It feels like a world within itself. I also love how Ragnarok didn’t invent entirely new combat and weapon mechanics, it just improved on what we already learned from 2018! I’m really upset this game did not win game of the year, but that doesn’t make me love it any less, it was up against some really great games. If you love this game as much as me, you should definitely check out to the making of it, to see all the hard work and energy that was put into this masterpiece!

This game is incredible in 2 distinct ways: The first is the quality of the game. The graphics are great, but the amount of content is almost exhausting with how much content there is. 7 worlds to explore and each has side missions, quests, challenges, collectibles, and secrets to complete and discover, AND an entire DLC of new challenges and callbacks to the older games. There are also all of the little interactions the sidekicks have involving Kratos that add charm to the world. The second is just how quickly Mimir, Freya, and Atreus will blatantly give you hints and explain the most basic of things to Kratos before he even stops to observe and think.

Yea because he's half Vanir .. That brings on the Winter and the end.. The Vanir were well respected . Baldur was a Beast of a hybrid, even without the spells.. Bloodline wise... And Bloodlines play a pivotal factor in this story .. how there past on.. so many dualities. I hate to Quote Vin Diesel. But it is truly about family.. Even with the Reconciliation with Freya and her brother. 😭 That was unexpected , this game just kept blowing mind away , time and time again.. Let"s talk that opening scene the with Kratos.. He's by himself reflecting .. He almost breaks down.. Right there bro.. The l portrays gestures and facial movements tell the story. I was not expecting that.. Then freya, then fenir dies.. In some ways it reminds me of empire strikes back.. But like if anakin/vader was training luke instead of yoda.. Kratos he's offering you mead for God sakes let him in.. Thor is respectful, pissed, intrigued, enraged , manipulated, excited , and belittle all at the same time at that table.. He's only reward is getting the chance to damn near kill Kratos . The Gesture with wine across the Hammer says it all . Which damn near did.. This Odin's plan . Thor is just the muscle .. Which sad how bad he has treated his for hundreds of yrs. Im pretty sure that was his idea.. Because Thor didn't take a single sip.. Neither did Kratos , but Odin did .. Forcefully i might add.. Because All-Father. "And You're no fun more" "Are you Broken" ? Really Odin?

@Marouan Fares I see what you mean but remember, Cory already talked about there being other gow games way before this ragnarok came out so they already have plans in mind of where they wana take kratos. Theyve already said there will be more gow games and we all know they need to have Kratos in it otherwise its not GOW anymore lol Atreus imo tho, will get his own game and he'll be next. I can see in 3 years game of atreus, maybe i seen a nice name like god of mischief then the game after that can be GOW for kratos as he gets sent to a new pantheon.

@marouanfares3682 I imagine if they did that with Atreus, Kratos would make a cameo in a meaningful way.

incredible game. the only things i would change are [spoilers] giving kratos the hammer and odin's spear

Personally, this was my GOTY in 2022 over Elden Ring. No other game does giant monster fights quite like GoW--it's truly an experience. I'm hoping we get another title in the near future. I just really hope it's not Atreus as the lead. He was fun to play, but this is Kratos' franchise; it would be a shame to cast him aside

Recency biased aside, Ragnarök is the best single player game that’s ever been made. Even the post-game delivers. Baldurs Gate3 should have taken a lot of notes. Bg3 is amazing but the fact that GoW is more open world and has a post game is mainly where I’m going with that.

I really enjoyed Ragnarok. But playing ‘18 and Ragnarok back to back before Valhalla; there’s just something missing in the secret sauce with the second game. I forgot how absolutely pitch perfect the story of ‘18 is.

I feel like this is a “get off my lawn” type take but really found new appreciation for the first game upon replay of both
