Long time no see! I was planning to make a hand tools video as my comeback but no luck with time, instead I was able to film this client project I worked last month, power tools mostly. Hope you'll enjoy it!

It's always a pleasure to watch you work Adrian. Is the kumiko lattice work typically only applied to one side of a shoji door? At 12:21 it looks like there are 2 sets of doors spanning a gap. Is this typically how you would get the lattice work to show regardless of what side of the door you are on? Or would you ever consider applying the kumiko on both sides of the paper so that you would only need a single set of doors?

Awesome video! It's cool to see your power tool setup as well. What type of glue did you use to adhere the paper? And what was the purpose of spraying it with water afterward?
@AdrianPreda
Жыл бұрын
Thanks! That's a special glue for shoji, though is not so special, just made from rice, you can diy too but is not that expensive to buy. It is easy to remove or replace the paper afterwards, just moist with water with a brush and it will peal easily. Spraying is used to remove dents in the paper. Water will soften the paper but once it is dried it will take the form of the frame so it will be tight and flat like a drum head almost
