Had the Patreon recipe forever and *finally* made this for my home. Even the clean up was a snap because it was instantly bubbly and perfect. It’s so good!!! Question: When it’s cooled, will it be hard like a bar of soap, or will it be a bit soft? Harden more over time? Thank you!!! 😊
@SoyandShea
Жыл бұрын
It will have a soft texture. If it's too hard, it's hard to get a good lather. If you do want it harder, you can increase the stearic acid by 1-3% and decrease the powder surfactant

I am working on getting the recipes available for sale on the Pimp My Soap page. When on Patreon, they come out as a recipe only and then supporting posts through the month but when they go for sale, I need to put all the information into the document which means I am having to rewrite them which is taking time.

@@SoyandShea OK I understand because I bought some formulas that you use from DIY Bath and body and each of them has plenty info on the formulas and that takes time to do.

I have used it as a stain remover by rubbing it onto the stained spot. I don't see why it can't be used but best to do small test patches on different materials

Have you had feedback re the use of the tins, given you use in plastic? I find that they rust over time and the plastic is the better option
@SoyandShea

Although inhave plastic in the studio I use a tin one on the house and it hasn't rusted on me yet. You do have to be careful about the quality of the tins you purchase. Sadly they're not all made to the same standards.

I had purchased some of your Solid Dish Soap and I absolutely love it! It cleans so well. I leave the tin sitting on my sink and scrape the scourer throught it, so easy :)

So ironic that I was planning to try something like this tomorrow for the first time too! Instead of using Sodium Coco Sulfate, could you use SCI? And if so, how would you tweak the recipe? I know you don't want to give the recipe away obviously, but would it be an even 1 to 1 exchange you think?

Can you glop these into molds? Will this mixture get hard enough to keep a shape?
@SoyandShea
3 жыл бұрын
I have tried moulding it have never been happy with results. It hardens where exposed to air so it doesn't fully harden in the mould.

Thank you for sharing this! One question: other sites recommend against storing this product in aluminum tins as they will react with the washing soda, turning the aluminum dark. They also recommend not using the paste on any aluminum pans for the same reason. Have you had any issues with that?
@SoyandShea
3 жыл бұрын
I've not had any of those issues. You have to make sure you have good quality tins and without seams. Cheap tins will rust from water. I refill my tin in our home kitchen and it's still fine after a couple of years of refilling.
