Wow! I love how after every one of your sewing videos I’m just bursting with inspiration to work on my own projects😄 You did so well!! The perfectionist in me is very satisfied with all the little details and embroidery you did😆💝

💗 thank you! ☺️ I’m very satisfied with the embroidery as well. I always forget how satisfying it is once you get in the groove.

"...you should be able to ride it like a saddle..."😄😅😂 On a serious note: Watching you weave the ribbon and embroider reminds me of when my Granny taught me 50+ years ago. 💝

They turned out lovely! I love the daisies and the ribbon. The side buttonhole gather is a clever idea. Glad to see the full video!

I have a hard time finding ladder lace, so cutting up holes into the lace you already had was a genious idea!

Thank you so much! I’m always afraid that my explanations don’t actually make sense, so it makes me so happy to hear they were clear and useful! 💕

Great job. Very cute final product. The ribbon looks a bit rough, needs ironing. I would’ve done a ribbon around the legs to tie where you put the bows, but I do like the way it gathered between the two holes. I absolutely love the scattered daisies and all the embroidery!

The ribbon was totally smooth when I put it in. But it’s a delicate silk that got crumpled up as soon as I tightened the ribbon. Couldn’t really be helped. Hopefully at some point I can get some thick silk satin ribbon for it.

Loved seeing the whole video! Thanks for the historical examples & explanation. Your gorgeous finished combinations inspire me to start working on my own! ✨ Also, your tip about not following instructions in our current era is so true! I like to think if I lived in any of the previous time periods, my sewing methods would still be quite similar to my current chaotic ones!

Have you thought of using hydrogen peroxide or a teensy amount of indigo to whiten? I know hydrogen peroxide is more readily available and more economically practical but a small amount of indigo is historically accurate to brighten whites.

Yes, I learned about that from Ruth Goodman! But I am pretty happy with them and it would be a pity if the lace or embroidery thread picked up the colour more or less easily than the fabric. I wouldn’t want any of it to be bluer than the rest. I suppose I could swatch test all of my materials though.

Insertion lace is actually called that because it’s inserted into the fabric! As in it divides sections of the garment like a seam. Lace with slots for ribbon is called beading lace 😁

Good to know! That’s what I thought at one point, but when you look up insertion lace on Etsy and other such sites, you get SO much beading lace that eventually I thought I must have gotten in wrong. And technically beading lace is used as insertion lace most of the time so it got o confusing 😵💫

I love them, but I wouldn't want to need the loo in a hurry.
