This is the re-edited version without the 'Any given Sunday' clips. So many people complained about them that it was obvious that 'they had to go'...

Love this series. I'll watch this again despite seeing it when it first came out. Is the original unlisted? I'd like to have the option of seeing both versions. Can't wait for episode 3, if you find the time & inclination to work on it 🙏

😅Bravo! You are so talented and a genuine maestro of the visual arts and an incisive historian of the film culture of this era. Can’t wait for the third installation. This deserves a theatrical release when it is completed if you could expand in its length.

Thanks, I am working currently on it as my masters degree thesis project, so it will take a time for the third episode to be released. But I have not abandoned the project :)

I've always thought that there was no bug, that by the end of the film Harry has got so paranoid that the destruction of the flat is symbolic of the destruction of his mind. Very informative video, look forward to the next one, thanks.

the strange hallucinations in the murder scene seem to indicate a fraying of the mind, and in complete paranoia in the end, unsure of reality ... there are likely several ways to read it, but the results of things weighing on his consciousness, his loneliness, and the lack of privacy and trust in the world he was a part of purveying and profiting from ... great questions yet for our times

i'm not a big coppola fan, but this one always got to me, a classic. i forgot cazale was in this too. the psychological drama and loneliness of hackman is amazing, as well as the paranoia and the twist near the end. there is a visceralness of the murder scene. a movie with layers and depth. looks like you did a fantastic job here

Quite frankly I thought it was blatantly obvious where the microphone was. Earlier in the movie at the convention Harry’s competitor clearly demonstrates in detail how the telephone is used as the bug. Isn’t it clear at the end that Harry overlooked this but we the audience knew?

If there was no bug, what is the explanation of them playing his music back for him to hear? They called twice. Once they said nothing, hung up. He continued to play the jazz music. They call again, and play it back for him. Did they use the wire tap method that was on display at the convention feat. The phone call? I like the idea that there was never a bug, but I think it’s both more plausible and better lasting effect if the device he referenced as “a piece of junk” ultimately led to his own mental demise.

This is interesting, but only about 20% of it is about the The Conversation, which makes me wonder what the point is...

The point is: sometimes the context is more important than the content
