I may be the only person in the world with a Sage 1 and a Sage 5 but not a PM 2 or a Para 3. Sage's aesthetics work for me and ergos are great. Thanks for comparison. Love the quick format

Great review. My Sage 1 is probably my favorite knife. Just bought a $age 4, it’s purrrty. Thinking hard about getting a Sage 2.

On on the sage 5 side. Great Review Enjoyed the extra time you took to compare each knives merits. I'd do a para 2 but not the 3.

Thickness behind the edge doesn’t really have much to do with the thickness of the stock. It’s all about how much it’s sharpened

Jeremy S hmmm. 🤔 unless you are going to reprofile the entire blade, which most people will not, blade stock thickness AND behind the edge thickness have a lot to do with “sliceability” since the only thing most people can control is apex sharpness. It might score good on a sharpness tester but if either dimension is overly thick it will not glide through things like cardboard very easily. I hope that makes sense...

Shortcut Reviews I agree that sliceablity has a lot to do with thickness behind the edge and blade stock. It’s just that you can have a 1/4 inch thick blade but it’s .001 inches behind the edge and slice well but a 1/16th inch blade and 1/32 behind the edge and not slice well. It’s all about what it’s used for. A tall thin kitchen knife probably won’t be the most durable and you wouldn’t slice an apple with a Medford lol

Aesthetically, I prefer the para 3 but in terms of knife quality is have to say the sage 5 is better

👍 same here, the sage 5 is a better tool, but love the PM2/Para 3 look

Went with the original Para 3. I hate both style stock clips. Considered the Sage 5 but it has the paper-clip style clip and I don't like that blade shape. The paper-clip-looking one looks cheap and tends to rip out, and damage the grips, per other reviewers. I'll be buying a deep carry clip anyway, so I might as well upgrade the blade. I like the delica but it's my beater EDC. Wanted a better, more professional knife.
