A vast body of evidence suggests that processes such as attention and executive functions (EFs) are robust predictors of other developing skills, such as early mathematics. Today I will review this evidence, and then focus on: 1) thinking carefully about proposed causal models for why / how integrating EF into mathematics may improve early numeracy; 2) co-producing acceptable, feasible and efficacious was of integrating EF into early years mathematics learning via play.
