Pushing two years ago now I needed to type for an art project, but my typewriter ribbon was old and dry! New, appropriately sized typewriter reels and ribbons are hard to come by, so I decided to have a go at making my own. A lot of the tutorials out there show how to re-ink using water-based ink, but traditional typewriter ink is oil based, and I needed it to be oil based for my particular project. A little bit of research later and this is what I came up with. I used lithographic black ink, but you could use any oil based relief or linocut ink.
