Made in Hamburg Germany, you can still find “Made in East Germany” Dolmars here and there. Dolmar was actually a mountain/range and then company named by the owner’s wife. “Dolmar” also best Stihl tk the gas chainsaw by about a year earlier too. Very neat company and quality that’s been very underrated over the decades due to poor dealer support. Great dealers, but few and far between. The 7900? I like mine. Very underrated saw. Think I’ll buy another. Anyway, great to see you back and thanks for showcasing that 7900!

WELCOME Back! Really good video! Loved watching that ‘Dol-Kita’ stomp that Stihl! Just joshing... Like you, I am primarily a Husqvarna guy, but I also own Stihl and Makita/Dolmar. When I pick up my Husky after using the other saws, I get a big smile on my face. But hey, most all modern saws are pretty good. Mr. Emil Lerp started out in what was the Eastern part of Germany. However, saws like the 112 S Super, of mid 70’s vintage, were made in Western Germany. And Dolmar Headquarters are/were in Hamburg, Germany. Yeah, I like their saws. It’s a shame Makita decided to kill them off, along with all their other OPE Gas equipment. R.I.P. Dolmar I am also a big Makita fan, and have used their power tools for over 20 years, but their approach to Marketing, and such, leaves a lot to be desired. I believe that is why the Dolmar/Makita saws never took off? And a lot of people don't care for Makita. Face it, Stihl has the Dealer Network/ reputation, and the product line that is hard to compete with. The closest Makita Repair Center to me is now over 2 hours away! Really? Although one can send in a power head to one of their Factory Centers. But that is not ideal for some. Anyways... Have watched a ton of your stuff, just recently HIT that Subscriber button! Take it easy and hope you get caught up on your stuff soon! Best 👍👍👍✌😊

Sthil 038 a melhor motor serra produzida até hoje. Não me refiro em potência mas em durabilidade e manutenção.

Actually I do believe it was a Solo design, then Dolmar bought them in mid development. Only for the Germans to be bought out by the Japanese. The solo 681 is the "big bore" version of the 7900. That had way better av springs and a BIGGER PTO side bearing.

Dolmar was always good. A little different. AV mounts were a little weak. They had the hottest fifty cc saw from the factory for many years.

Moin Boedy Dolmar Headquarter was in Hamburg all time! Founded in 1927. Have a look to wikipedia. Stihl was a bit later, both founder worked together in another company bevor they founded their own business. ;) But Stihls advertising in the 1980s was much better and the cooperation between Dolmar and Sachs kicked Dolmar down for couple of years. 😓 The German Wikipedia have a lot more details as the english version. Maybe your wife can help out, if you are interested. 😇 But since March 2022 Dolmar/Makita stopt the production of enginetools. 😭😭 This is why I have change to ECHO. In specially to the X-Series. They are near by the good old Dolmar saws. 💪 Have a good day & carpe diem, my friend! Greetings, Dirk 🤜🌳🌲🪵🤛

Ooops, I forgot to add, Mount Dolmar was in the Thuringer Forest, which I believe was eastern Germany, and where Mr. Lerp started out. It is a shame Makita decided to shut them down. You’re right, March 31, 2022. I am a Makita guy, but I’m a bit P.O.’d at them right now. I recently purchased a EA6100, and the quality is not ‘quite there?’ I think they were either rushing out Production, or just not going the extra mile, in knowing the production would cease? I had issues with a couple new saws. Still very well made, and there are some that regarded the Dolmar saws over Stihl. Take care dirk.

@@georgedavall9449 Hi George That is right, the Hill / Mountain of the first presenting give the name. And yes, the newer models aren‘t so good, like the „millenium“ models, or bevor it. They often have a „bad flow“, because of the katalysator in the exhaust. I don‘t know, what Makita want to do. We will see. Wish you a good day! Stay safe

@@dirk_krueger_baumkrueger7612 Hi Dirk, and thanks for the reply! Makita has officially stopped ALL production of all Gas powered equipment. That is a sad fact. BOO to Makita! I am guessing you are in or from Germany? That is so cool! Not to go down any ‘Political’ Rabbit holes, just suffice it to say, I applaud Germany for taking a stand, and supporting Ukraine. Beautiful Country! I tried to get over there when I was in the US Military, but it never happened. Oh well... Wish you a good day as well. Stay safe and Healthy!
