I'm not someone who likes to lecture anyone and especially you, someone who has a certain position in his martial art. but you're not sagging your shoulders when punching and you're not stepping forward when punching and you're not squeezing your abs hard enough. I am someone who practices Asian martial arts. A small step is important to be able to deliver a powerful punch. Unlike boxing, the power of a punch comes entirely from rotation. A punch in Asian martial arts is the combined momentum of the incoming body. The step is not to get closer to the opponent but to create momentum for the punch. The shoulders need to sag so that the momentum doesn't get scattered. .... Maybe you are influenced too much by kick boxing. In addition, it is not easy for Europeans to be able to do Asian squats, which is also an obstacle in this. It seems unrelated, but it is an anatomical structure that is quite influential in this type of punch.

A small step forward or switching from a short stance to a long stance when punching creates power for that punch. The nature of this style is not like boxing. boxing is like throwing a dumbbell. Karate is like throwing an iron bar. it's all momentum. Proper arrangement creates great power.

Wow thank you for your obvious expert analysis… whoever the makiwara is a bit too tall that’s why my shoulder looks high… as for the step in … that is another way to strike which I also do along with many other variations… as squeezing the abs that’s sorted although I can’t see how you can tell. And as for the impact I will let those who train with me decide… old proverb say “Never judge a sausage by the skin” best wishes 🙏🏼

Looks impressive, but all traditional martial arts are still lacking the principles of Western boxing, your reverse punch says it all!

Yes of course I don’t expect it would do much damage done this way… it was a little different when I was kick-boxing???
