Hahahah I know you all like plenty of other breakcore-y stuff, but don't know if very many of you know Maladapt. Still, I'll probably take that bit out of the title soon

@@karlfagerstrom Keep that title bit in the video description! Sewerslvt is my entry to the genre (and I'd imagine this the same for others) so anything similar is very welcomed. Great cover btw - big fan

It was actually more just a happy accident that they sounded good together - I knew I was going to wanna use some of an alternate take at the end anyway since the end of the main take had the ride cymbal rubbing against the mic stand, so I figured I'd see what it was like to have two takes playing at once in the bridge and was pleasantly surprised (kinda makes sense though, because one was very busy, crisp, and light, and one was way more simple and a bit heavier).

Dooo it. I forgot to bring my blacklight bulbs for this session, but I normally like to have one of those popping through from under the snare, and use a clear head on my snare so you can see that too (check my Disassociating video to see what I'm talking about, it's a solid look)

I really love the cymbal heavy grooves, especially with a clangey ride bell mixed in with crashes, there's just something frenetic and bouncy about it that I love no matter what kind of music it's complimenting. This sounds sweet 😝

I wanna take my drumming to the next level like yours what do you practice or what have you practiced on a daily basis for the years youve put in to get this point, i struggle with doubles n mueller stuff on the hands, do you practice rudiments on practice pads in your spare time?
@karlfagerstrom
2 жыл бұрын
I do, but I have always practiced way more on just my thighs in my spare time. It hurts at first, but eventually the nerves just seem to callous over forever 😅 - and your thighs are always with you, and they're kinda pillow-y / non-bouncy, so you have to pick *up* the sticks on every note you play, which is good to practice. Be patient with Moeller and doubles stuff, and make sure before you do any of this that you're holding the sticks with a nice fulcrum, that all your fingers are staying on the stick, and that you don't have a kink in your wrist before you even start playing. Also checking out some French grip finger control drills would probably be good to do as well!
