Southern Region Prison Officers Mourn the Loss of the Late Gaoler Fraction Nyadaufe of Blantyre Prison

Southern Region Prison Officers solemnly paid their final respect to the late Gaoler Fraction Nyadaufe of Blantyre Prison, whose life was tragically cut short in a road accident on May 13, 2024, while ferrying 32 inmates from Luwani Prison to Mwanza Prison.
The burial ceremony, held in Mulanje at Thuluwe Village under Traditional Authority Nkhanda, was a somber affair. Distinguished attendees included Southern Region Commanding Officer Zacheus M’bawa (DCP), Blantyre Prison OC Mr. O. M. Levi, Mulanje Prison OC (ACP) Nsini, Malawi Prison Training School OC Advance Training Wing Superintendent A. Chirwa, Makande Prison OC Senior Superintendent Zwangeti, and other high-ranking prison officials from the Southern Region.
Superintendent N. Mbiridzongwe, Station Officer for Blantyre Prison, delivered a eulogy on behalf of the Officer In-charge for Blantyre Prison, Mr. Owen Levi DCP. The ceremony also saw the attendance of officers from Mulanje Police, reflecting the solidarity between the prison service and the police force.
A particularly moving moment was the final tribute led by the Malawi Prison Training School Funeral Drill Officers, who honored Nyadaufe with a 21-gun salute.
In his remarks, RCO M’bawa who spoke on behalf of the Commissioner General for Prisons Mr. Masauko Ng'ombeyagwadwa, he urged fellow prison officers to emulate the late Nyadaufe, who was known for his unwavering dedication to both his professional duties and his community roles, including his religious commitments.
