Argentinian Malbec is really underrated. I will try the higher end stuff in the future for sure! Had really good values that blew my mind in terms of price/quality. :-) Happy drinking.

Top Achaval-Ferrer is a treat as well. I don't seek out malbec, but I would happily purchase top Achaval-Ferrer. If it doesn't smell like saddle, barnyard floor, and florals, keep it away!

next...perhaps...the differences and the most interesting (not necessarily the most expensive) wines of the right and the left bank ? Le Puy, Chateau Rochemorin, Chateau Feytit-Clinet, Chateau Bel-Air (lussac-st emilion), etc ? Good idea ? ^_^

rick; great idea but not sure I have enough experience to do a video on this. I generally focus on growth wines and my probably I will pick one of the left bank regions as one of my focus regions next year...probably St. Estephe since it is the smallest region to cover. Cheers!

Brendan: good eyes! Like I said to another viewer, I have lots of friends/clients who are so nice to give me gifts. They sometimes give me scotch instead of wine since they think I have every wine already. Actually, now that I realize viewers have great eyes, I try to drop in some things in videos where viewers will say "is that _____in the background?" Cheers!

RB: yes, good price in my books but seem like wine is more expensive here than in the rest of the world. Only exception is Italian wines and Champagne, where for some reason, I think we get pretty good pricing here. Please like, subscribe and keep watching. Cheers!

…on my list; did the price pick up vs quality convince you (its like $100 where i am) or you think worth trying more because of “its different factor” -- also how do u think it taste vs the Catena Zapata Cab Malbec blend ?
@TrophyWineHunter

Atul: thanks for your continued support. I think there is value in trying it as it is gives you great appreciation of what Malbec can achieve. Quality to price ratio is pretty good...I wouldn't say it is a steal but likewise, not ridiculously bad either. If it is $100, better price than here. I would recommend trying this at least once. Cheers!

I had the same vintage as you, 2018. Too spicy for my liking (reminds me of Aus Shiraz). Don't see the hype this has over your regular malbecs.
@TrophyWineHunter

Spiritchaser: for me, it is that spiciness that is the uniqueness of higher end Malbec. Regular malbec is good but perhaps a bit weighty. Higher end Malbec tastes lighter but I do agree that lighter palate brings out more spicy components. It is not as heavy as Australian Shiraz but almost more like Tempranillo based wines (in taste profile). I just think it is neat after drinking years of value Malbec which are great for BBQ but a bit more one dimensional. Cheers!
@Spiritchaser93

@@TrophyWineHunter definitely agree. malbec isnt my go-to wine, even if we are talking about affordable daily drinkers i would rather spend that on a rhone valley or cdp wine. malbecs are not just more one-dimensional, the finish is also almost non-existent. tempranillo also has the spicy element since american oak is used, and for extended maturation periods as well.
@TrophyWineHunter

@@Spiritchaser93 yes, I would say the length is not something I notice with Malbecs. BTW, this would be considered a mid level Malbecs. For top end Malbecs, see my review of the Argentino...that was really good (but pricey). Cheers!
