Good tips Matt. The lens removal problem threw me when I first had my Mamiya 6. All these things though can be cured by 5 rules that most men hate:- 1) Read the manual! 2) Read the manual! 3) Read the manual! 4) Read the manual! 5) Read the manual! 😂😂👍👍

Yeah. I read somewhere that the first line in a manual for an oscilloscope was "You've tried your way now try ours".

You can buy a single 4LR44 that does the same job as 4 separate batteries.

Thanks JM, good tip. I’ve never seen those for sale so I tend to buy these smaller LR44 which fit quite a few of my cameras.

Indeed, or even the 1/3n lithium batteries too which I tend to use. They are basically a double LR44. I use these in both Leica M's and Mamiya.

Thanks CG, are they the SR44 or something different? I probably have then in some cameras and am not 100% aware ha.

Matt Osborne - They are a single battery that is the equivalent of 2 x SR44 batteries on top of each other only not silver oxide but lithium Matt. They last for ages, they last longer than SR 44's and their alkaline equivalent. Widely available too, much easier sticking one single battery in a camera too instead of fiddling with two tiddly batteries. I've been using them for years and would never go back to using 44's now unless a camera only required a single SR44 of course.

@@CiderGuy Thanks. That's probably what is in my Mamiya 6 actually.. the battery died on a trip so I remember going to a supermarket when it opened at 6am before a day hike! (I forget what I have at times!) *Note to self.. sell some gear ha.

great video Matt! I'm about to buy one of these, one thing I noticed that when people rotate the focus ring on the lens, the yellow frame in viewfinder moves, it's kinda weird, do you need to recompose when the frame moves?
@MattOsborne-MrLeicaCom

It corrects parralax or means it gives you the correct framing if you are focusing close vs distance. This is seen most with long lenses like the 150mm and 210mm. Yes use the frame the camera gives you once focused.

Hi, I currently own a mamiya 7 ii and the shutter won’t fire. Any suggestions on where to have it repaired?

Sorry to hear, if you’re in the UK you can try CamServe but I can’t promise on that specific camera. If not try PPPRepair on Instagram.

Has anyone experienced the focus patch being off centre when you set the focus ring at infinity. Does this cause a problem when shooting at F4? For example the subject matter is blurred.

Hi Andy, do you mean the patch is off centre (as you write) or the patch image doesn't overlay the viewfinder image 100%. If just the patch position i've never noticed this (and should be fine to focus if the over matches up (overlay). The latter is the usual issue with RF cameras.

@@MattOsborne-MrLeicaCom The patch image doesn't overlay the viewfinder image 100% when the focus is at infinity only. . I have got it fixed now but wondered if anyone has experienced this and if it affected focusing.

Andy Magee yes common with RF cameras, like my Leica and Bessa. Not seen on my 7.

I'm getting a red ''LT'' flashing in the lower left corner of my viewfinder. I've replaced the battery which hasn't solved the issue. Have you had any experience of this?

Tom Hi Tom sorry to hear that. Hmm no I’ve never seen it. Did you Google the fault.. it should be in the manual I think which you can find online
