Really enjoyed your video Jim. I have a distinct love for dilapidated dwellings so I was hoping that you could have captured some images of the place where the cars were parked! Glad you found your pin - but then again, it would have been a gift for using the location. Fantastic images! That old A-Frame speaks volumes!!

Also, those buildings at the end were the ones I wanted to photograph, where I drove by earlier. Sorry if that wasn’t clear.

Seen your post on the medium format group on Facebook. Glad I stopped by your channel. Would you be interested in making a tutorial video on "how to use light meter app" particularly the same one your using? New to photography and notice that no one has a video explaining how to use or read this particular reader.

That’s a great idea! Would you also be interested in knowing how this or any any light meter determines “correct” exposure? Thanks for stopping by.

Great vlog Jim, that camera light meter app looks particularly handy, I do have an elderly light meter here but wonder how accurate it is as it is older than me! The shots from the Mamiya looked great, I'm a sucker for old buildings and graveyards so those hit the spot. Once I get the two 35mm projects finished I have a roll of Ilford HP5 120 film to stick in either my Diana F or the Semflex Twin lens - it should be perfect for winter. As for Fall/Autumn being dry, I wish it was in the UK, it's usually wet and muddy. Thanks for sharing and have a great week.

Thanks, Andrew. That light meter app was a great find for sure. I love its retro style. I’ve got quite a few more film vlogs planned too. I think another graveyard shoot with some fluoroscopic film I’ve ordered. I shot a crap-ton of HP4 back in the day. Thanks for watching!

I see that so often in videos presenting a camera: people loading the camera outside in more or less bright open light just before starting to shoot. I never do that. Outdoor light is not good for unexposed or undeveloped film. I always load my camera with film in a dark place at home _before_ I leave for the shoot. And when I have to reload the camera while out in the field, I at least look for some dark corner to do that. Maybe I'm just overcautious, but that's the way I learned to do that 40 years ago.

You’re right. It doesn’t take much light to expose film. That’s good advice. When I was shooting high school seniors and weddings, I often had no choice but to load film outdoors in indirect light. Thanks so much for watching and commenting. It means the world to me.

Thank you. The Mamiya 220 is a recent accusation of mine, but I’ve been shooting medium format cameras since the late 1970’s. I have a few more outings planned for the C220 in the near future.

Nice to see you out capturing photo's with your Mamiya C220 Professional Twin Lens Reflex TLR camera . You captured some nice shots , I always love an old graveyard for getting inspirition . It is difficult to tell on youtube video but did I detect that some of the images have some sort of fogging or uneven development marks ?? Thanks for sharing and I am pleased you found your camera pin. Take care : ) Teddy

Thanks so much, Teddy. Your little button eyes are very good indeed! The “fogging” or “uneven development” is actually my poor scanning technique. I built a box to hold the negatives and backlight with the Samtian LED panel light. Even with a diffuser, the individual LEDs show as darker areas (reversing the negative, light is dark), AND I didn’t have it positioned correctly so I needed to add a gradient mask in digital post to even the exposure. I wish I had a prize to offer you. 🐻🥇

@@VintageInsightPhotography Ah I see I could see there was something and just wondered what it was. I understand now and am pleased for your sake that that means the negs are ok ; ) I have just recieved a colour film back from the lab and am not really happy with the scans. I have no way of scanning my own though so have to rely on the lab. I have tried to copy them with a digital camera but the tecnique does not work too well on negs. It is ok when I copy my old slides though so that is good because i have boxes and boxes of them from years ago and intend to copy some now the dark nights are here . Take care : ) Teddy

My question too. Thought there were light leaks or bad film, and I watched it on my iPad & iPhone. But great video. I too am having scanning woes. Years ago I had a flatbed scanner with lights in the lid and a negative/slide holder with accompanying software. Though I didn’t use lots I liked what i did… or so I think I remember. Now living in Germany and getting caught up in the film wave and bought two used scanners but didn’t realize they didn’t have the film holders. Working on making something because I can’t find the correct ones.

I was a little surprised when Emmett was mentioned, and assumed it was another Emmett somewhere until I saw the Bisco’s sign. Grew up in Richmond and thankfully never went to Bisco’s, but it’s a local legend.
