These things are fantastic fun! They won't make anything like this again, too much health and safety!

I bought a similar stationary engine from antique shop years back. Got it running for a bit but the cylinder is worn out and it wont run anymore. Might fix it some day.

I hope you manage to get it fixed, I don't thing a cylinder swap would be too hard.

2:50 I used steno camp fuel. It's a gel and is less messy to work with and you can just scoop it up.

Toys then > Toys now... Except for model engine kits. They are advanced now but very expensive.

I agree toys, were much better back when they were physical and tangible!

They sadly closed down at the beginning of the month. So were still being made until very recently. I recently bought an sr1a kit that I'm about to start building. Wilesco still make similar products.

@@adamfox264 I saw that news. Everyone was quite surprised it was out of the blue without any other option than closing but I think there was something to do with I'll health and they will still make limited amounts of parts?

I’ve got one of these thing’s exactly the same as in this video. It was my dads and he got it when he was a kid. I remember when I was young, dad would get it out of his big box of toys he had kept from when he was a kid, and we’d fire up the old steam wagon. Great memories. I remember once we had it chugging along with 3 house bricks stacked in the back and it pulled them along fine. Shit hot stuff !

I love this comment, thank you for sharing your own great memories. Are you sure it was moving 3 house bricks though?!!! That would be some feat!

Yeah mate,,, absolutely legit. We started with 1 brick, then 2, then 3 then 4. The fourth brick was too much and wouldn’t move, but it definitely hauled 3 bricks mate. My uncle and cousin were around when we did this and despite this happening in the early 90’s, I still remember vividly all of us laughing and how amazed we were every time we added another brick to it and it kept pulling. As I said,, brick number 4 was its limit,, but 3 bricks is pretty bloody impressive. Happy times man and a wicked memory.
